"What was that about?" I asked as she approaches me.
"I'll have to talk to you about it when you take me home."
"Okay, so how does it look?" I say kind of disappointed that I had to ask.
"Oh, it looks wonderful love," she replied. I can see it in her face she feels bad but I can also tell that something's on her mind pretty tough and I can not wait to find out what it is.
"Okay well, I'll get out of this dress off so we can check out and head home."
It was a long silent drive to Lucy's house and it made me nervous as we headed to her room.
"I'm kind of excited for prom now," Lucy said obviously trying to break the odd silence.
"Don't stall please, I need to know what's going on with you."
"I've been having dreams. Dreams outside of our mutual dreams."
"Are they bad dreams like nightmares or something?"
"No, actually they are good dreams. Okay, I don't know how you're going to react to this but I think I have created a person within the dream world."
I pause for a moment. "Okay so in our dreams we see unfamiliar faces sometimes, that's normal."
"Yes and I do believe it started out as that but this has grown into something much more. Almost something I can not control"
"Lucy that makes no sense, you can control everything, especially when you are dreaming".
"I know that's why I've been stressing out lately. Like it has got to the point where I try not to even sleep some nights because I don't want to see her."
"Her?" I ask, then there was a moment of silence. "Why did you create this woman in the first place?"
"Because I saw her in a dream once as an unfamiliar face so I tried speaking to her. Then next thing I know it's like an every night thing that we'll talk and now she is trying to escape the dream world into reality."
"Every night thing?" I scoff. "I'm sorry that mutual dreaming with lil ole me got boring for ya."
"Are you serious right now Rose?" We look at one another for a long moment, then I turned around and left.
I'm driving like ten miles an hour contemplating on turning around. This is like our first fight out of our whole eight, almost nine months together. It kind of hurts but I'm too overcome with jealousy to dawn on that feeling right now. As I arrive home I rush up to my room, open my laptop, and do some more research on dreams. After about four articles I give up because I find nothing on what Lucy is experiencing. Then I get an alert on my phone. It is a text from Lucy that reads "Take a nap" it almost feels like an order but I oblige anyway. As the months have passed, it has become easier for me to drift off to sleep whenever I please, even if I am not exactly tired. As I lay down, I close my eyes and begin to focus on my breathing. I'm breathing quite fast and I'm trying to calm it down. Just a few moments later, I'm drifting.
~There's nothing but darkness surrounding me. Until I feel a hand on my shoulder and I turn around. It is Lucy.
"What are we doing here?" I ask.
"This is where she is stuck. This is the dimension between the dream world and the real world. I thought she had got out that's why I freaked out at the mall. If she does get out, it will be a disaster. How will she live? She knows no one but me. She does not even have an identity. How would I explain her?" Lucy replied nervously.
"Why can't you just forget about her and leave her in a dream somewhere?"
"She has too much power now. I've created her and revisited her so much she's developed real emotions."
"Emotions that you don't care about," a voice interrupts suddenly.
I look over and see a beautiful brown and curly haired freckled girl.
"I'm sorry, my name is Amber. Pleased to meet you," she continues and reaches out for my hand.
I just look over at Lucy and say, "Seriously?" Lucy just shook her head and started to apologize.
"Are you guys trying to get rid of me?" Asked Amber. Then she looks over at Lucy, "I thought you cared about me."
When I saw the hurt in her eyes when she said that I knew this was much more than just an accidental dream character creation. Then I started to get tears in my eyes.
"Do you even know who I am?" I asked Amber.
"Well no, I don't actually." Then she looks a Lucy, "Why is she here?"
Once I see the look on Lucy's face I know she is about to make a confession. My heart is getting heavy and I don't want to hear it right now. I exit the dream.~
I woke up with tears running down my eyes, It feels like forever that I am laying here lost in my thoughts and trying to push away the pain. Then I hear a knock on my door, moments later Lucy is storming into my room shutting the door behind her.
"Why did you leave?" She asks already knowing the answer to that question. I just look at her.
"I am so sorry, I don't know why I let this happen. I love you and I never want to lose you. Please forgive me, Primrose. Please." She continued.
"I want to know what happened," I said in a hurtful voice that was almost a whisper.
