"Your a disgrace! A monster! A-a mistake!!!"

Wincing as I bring up my arms to cover my head, I wonder what I ever did to deserve this treatment. Then I remembered. It wasn't because I was weak nor because of my personality. It was all because of what I was... a mistake. Not just any mistake, but the ultimate mistake of the Kurans.

"Don't ignore me you beast!"

Juri continued to hit me until vicious bruises covered my body. I let out a whimper, trying to keep in the cries of pain. Over the couple years of my life, I found that the less noise I made, the sooner she left me. Sure enough, the whimper excited her, and her eyes glowed a bloody red.

I watch fearfully as she kneeled down towards me and held me shoulders tight. She then began to savagly bite down into my neck as an animal would its prey.

"AHH!!!"

It hurt... it hurt so much. No matter how often she does this, it will always hurt the next time she bites. My blood excited her, as it will always excite other blood suckers. A pure blood's blood is the most delectable to others, and, being one myself, I will always be targeted.

"Now darling, stop it. You will end up killing her if you continue."

Haruka spoke up as I was feeling faint, a hard thing to feel when you're in constant pain.

"I don't care if this thing dies!"

"If she dies, so does our blood supply. Just let it go for today, okay?"

He spoke calmly, as if a three year old child wasn't almost drained of blood right in front of him. Child? No, I meant three year old mistake.

After the two left the room, I felt another presence approach. This one I recognized... this one I trusted.

"Are you alright, Ivy?"

"Y-yes Kaname."

I spoke to my brother, Kaname Kuran. He is the son of Juri and Haruka Kuran, and yet he is my brother. Half brother to be exact.

"You need help, you're bleeding too quickly. Here, take my blood."

His arm was held out expectantly, and he brought it up to my mouth. He moved closer so that he cradled my head in his other hand. He slightly struggled with this task as he was only a year older than I, four.

"K-Kaname, I-I don't need it. I-I will be f-fine."

"That's a lie! You are clearly badly wounded and you're not healing!"

"I-It will heal w-with a little t-time... Don't w-worry about it. I-I'm used t-to it."

"...just take the blood."

He took his wrist to his own mouth and bit into the pulsing vein. The smell of the blood immediately wafted around and I felt my self control leave me. I took his wrist into my hands and promptly brought it to my mouth. My fangs quickly grew out and I re-pierced the already healing skin. I began to greedily take in as much blood as I could, and Kaname patted my head, not stopping my actions.

I only pulled away after drinking for about ten minutes. Looking down I notice that all my wounds were healed and my hunger was diminished. Kaname is more pale now, and adding it to his already pale skin, he looks almost like the ghosts he reads to me about.

"Kaname? Are, are you alright?"

"Don't worry about me. How are your injuries? Are they healed?"

"Yep! It's all thanks to you!"

He chuckles at the smile I send towards him and continues to pat my head. I lean against him as he takes out a book from behind his back.
