"Just... just a little bit farther..."
I am short of breath, and find myself panting more than I have ever done in my entire three years of living. I have never had to run so far for so long without pause. This is the first time I have ever actually dared to run away. Normally I would stay because I knew that no matter how bad things got with Juri and Haruka, Kaname and Yuki would be there for me. That they would always stand by my side no matter how bad things got. I guess I was wrong.
I ended up being the one to hurt Yuki. I ended up showing just how much of a monster I was. I ended up showing just how big of a mistake of the Kurans that I was. It just took Kaname and I a little longer to realize it. It took us that long to realize that this mistake about cost us Yuki's life. I guess Kaname was right about one thing, I was a mistake that should have never been born.
Collapsing on the ground, I realize just how cold it is. I am laying in the snow that is about an inch thick. It's cold... I'm cold... I just want to sleep... to give up.
"Hmm? Are you alright, child? Would you like some help?"
I heard the kind voice of a passerby, a man dressed in noble attire. I could tell that the seams on his clothes were made of the highest quality fabric, and that is position could not be anything short of nobility. I tried to stand in order to properly greet him and to tell him that I am alright, but I could not get my legs to function properly.
"I-I'm fine mister."
I try to reply to the human, but I ended up stuttering due to the cold snow pressing against some of my uncovered skin.
"You can't be fine! Just look at you! Your clothing is blooded and torn and you are out here freezing to death! Look how pale you are!"
I smile weakly at the guy, but can't find it in me to explain part of the reason for my paleness. I am a vampire, and he is an ignorant human who has no knowledge of this part of the world. I should keep it that way.
Despite my thoughts, I could not fight back when he himself picked me up and placed me in a carriage that was right behind him. He then climbed up into the carriage and a butler came over and closed the door. The man holds me close to him and I feel his body warmth soak into my skin. It feels nice and gives me a sense of security.
Now that I'm out of the snow, I can see the man a little better. He has a blue-black colored hair and his eyes were a warm brown. There was a cute little beauty mark under his left eye, and that just added more to his charm. I would have mistaken this man for a vampire if it weren't for his human presence. Noticing me staring, he decided to introduce himself.
"Now that we are out of the cold, let me introduce myself. I am Vincent Phantomhive, the earl of the Phantomhive estate, and you are...?"
"I am Ivy K-, just Ivy. It's nice to meet you, Lord Phantomhive."
"Hmm? Nice to meet you too, Ivy. If you wouldn't mind me asking, how old are you?"
"I am three, no, four. I just turned four today..."
"Your rather mature for your age, yes?"
"Yeah, I just... had to mature early."
"Really? And where are your parents?"
"I-I don't have any."
"Then, would you like to come stay with me? When you are older you may work in the estate as a maid and be able to support yourself."
"Could I really?! I mean, yes! Please! I will do my best!"
"I'm sure you will."
Lord Phantomhive just chuckled at my eager expression, and I was just happy that I had somewhere I could be. I now had somewhere that I could truly call home.
