Warriors: Second Strike: Banished to the Dark

Chapter 18

[Skycloud's POV]

I looked up to the bright blue sky and curled my tail around my kits. I felt bad I couldn't do anything to help with the camp but Bugstar kept complaining he was fine without help. I was tempted to tell him we should just forget about EverClan and move into a different clan. Our clan definitely didn't last forever like the leader wanted it to. I just wished that Fangbreeze was here to see all of this work. He would have loved it.

I headed over to the small fresh kill pile that was for the two of us and picked up a mouse. Bugstar was out getting some sticks and also checking the two borders quickly. I just hoped he would get back soon. I hated being left alone in the camp with the kits to keep me company.

They were growing quickly thankfully. They were only a moon old by now but they loved to play around the camp. Five moons and we would have some apprentices as long as nothing happened to them. I had the most hope in Breezekit. She seemed to be more mellow. She could be the one to be the medicine cat when she got older. We would just have to teach her about the herbs and everything.

"Come here my little kits, I'm going to tell you a story." I purred to them as I laid down in my nest looking at the four bundles of joy in front of me.

"What's the story? Which one are you going to tell us?" Stagkit asked excited to here one of the stories.

"It's about the four clans and how they started." I purred to them again and curled my tail against myself. I wanted to tell them how everything started.

"But there are six clans now!" Mistkit pointed out making me giggle.

"LilyClan and SmallClan weren't here originally. In the beginning of all the clans, there was just DepthClan. They came from a small group of rouges and they formed a clan. They had several leaders until the other clans came along.

"The leader of DepthClan was Redstar at the time. This one rouge, Yarn, had three kits. Their names was Hope, Ocean, and Maple. They saw how Redstar took control of his clan and wanted that for themselves. One day they followed the leader to the Moonpool. There, they received their nine lives and leader names.

"Hope changed her name to Everstar. She became the leader of EverClan. She started to recruit rouges to form her clan. They were slowly growing at first but they finally grew.

"Ocean changed his name to Tidestar. He became the leader of TideClan. They grew more quickly as the tom had a way to charm cats. He had kits with one of the rouges and they grew up along with the other cats in the clan.

"Maple was the simple one. She changed her name to Maplestar and made her clan which was called MapleClan. Her clan was slower than TideClan but quicker than EverClan.

"The four leaders lived happily. Everstar lived the longest and finally died. Her deputy, Mistwing, took control of the clan. She was the nicest leader EverClan ever had. She was peaceful and didn't want war with the others.

"After Miststar died, Bloodstar took control. He was alright for the beginning of his short rule but he then went to the side with the Dark Forest. His deputy, Toadstep, killed him after a while and became the leader. Toadstar was better but he soon got sick and died of green cough.

"Greystar took over after Toadstar. She was ruthless and took over TideClan once. The leader of their clan, Duskstar, came back with his nine lives and defeated her. She came back here and kidnapped two apprentices from DepthClan.

"That was one of her last things she did as a strange cat with powers came to our clan next. He blasted wholes through everyone leaving Fangbreeze, Bugpaw, and me alive. He took the two apprentices and ran. The three of us that were left went to the other clans for help. I couldn't go far since I was pregnant and Fangbreeze was badly hurt so Bugpaw went to DepthClan first.

"They helped us and gave Bugpaw his warrior name, Bugstorm. We all though Fangbreeze was going to make it and become the next leader, but he died of infection later. They looked to me for the next leader but I refused. I told them that EverClan needed a young leader that can connect with the younger rouges and loners. We picked Bugstorm for the leader and he went to get his nine lives.

"Now, this is how EverClan has been made. We have had six different leaders when some of the others have had three or two leaders. Now, we will be strong and last a lot longer but we need a medicine cat and warriors. I believe we can make it." I told them watching the excitement in their eyes.
