I opened my eyes and looked around the room sleepily. Fagan was passed out in his bed, and my sluggish mind tried to piece together the events of last night.
I rubbed my eyes, sitting up. Alright, so I guess Fagan and Tessa made it back without any issues. That was good.
I climbed out of bed and grabbed my stuff, heading down to the bathroom and getting in the shower. The warm water hit my body and I stood under the spray of it for far too long.
Not wanting to be late and get in trouble, I forced myself out of the shower, brushing my teeth and heading back to the room. Fagan was awake as I entered.
"Your hand is unwrapped," he said, noticing.
I pressed my palm against the towel. "Most people don't shower with bandages on."
"They do if the cut is fresh," Fagan said, getting out of his bed. He grinned, eyes sharp. "You're a mystery. I don't care for mysteries."
"That sounds like your problem." I opened the closet door and his myself behind it, quickly rewrapping my hand to hide the scar. I dropped my towel and pulled on fresh clothes, fixing my hair. I heard the door shut as Fagan left to take a shower.
I grabbed my schoolbag and left the dorm building. Fagan would be later than usual to class, but I doubted he cared.
I was relieved when I entered the classroom and there was no Leon in sight. I took my seat, watching as Beckett and Tessa came into the room together.
"Ren knows," I said as Beckett walked past.
He stopped and shrugged. "He won't say anything. He'd be throwing himself under the bus if he did. He's too selfish to sell himself out."
"He's trying to do the right thing, Beckett," Tessa said.
"You and him?" I said, glancing at her.
She shook her head. "It's not like that."
"Got it." I turned away from them, not wanting to talk about any of this here, where we could be overheard.
Beckett and Tessa took their seats as Mr. Sternberg entered the room. He looked at Fagan's empty seat and shook his head, stepping out of the room.
He returned a minute later and started our lesson, going on some rant about God and being a dick to two girls in the front of the room. I couldn't focus on class today, though. My thoughts were far away, swirling around schemes and all the ways I could get caught. Just how far could I take this before my luck ran out?
Fagan came into the room about 15 minutes into the lesson. Mr. Sternberg shot him a glare, but Fagan just grinned cheerfully and headed towards his seat.
Oh boy. Mr. Sternberg turning back to his lesson instead of yelling at Fagan was the first sign that something was up.
I glanced at Beckett and saw his eyes narrowed suspiciously. Shit, even he could something was off.
I suppressed the urge to groan as Leon stepped into the room a few minutes later, followed by three Blues. Mr. Sternberg looked smug, stopping his lesson and nodding at Leon.
