"Is this my shirt or yours?" I asked.

Fagan looked over and frowned. "Uh...mine, maybe? I don't know, it looks soft, I'll take it."

I checked the tag. "Nice try, asshole. This is mine."

"Why didn't you just check the tag in the first place?" he said in annoyance.

"Because I'm testing you," I said, folding the shirt and packing it away. I looked around the room to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

We were moving out today, the year at an end. Detentions had been rough at first, but eased up as they went along. We'd stayed out of trouble for the most part, just sassing teachers occasionally.

All of our efforts weren't going to waste, though. Stories of Kaz Warrick and Beckett Townsend were infamous around the Academy, sparking incidents of rebellion from time to time. Beckett was confident that another group would come along and pick up where we left off.

The door to our room opened and we turned as Beckett, Leon, and Tessa came in. Fagan packed up the last of his stuff and dropped down off his bed.

"What next?" Beckett said, leaning against the wall.

"I'm going to a gymnastics camp this summer," Fagan said. "I'm out of practice. Figure I'll get into that and join a summer cheer team."

"Don't go dropping anyone," I said.

"Didn't plan on it. Conversion Academy beat the sensitivity out of me," Fagan said. He looked to Tessa. "What about you?"

She shrugged. "My grandma is moving in with me and my mom for a bit. I think it'll really help."

They looked to me and I shrugged. "I don't have a living plan right now. I'll end up somewhere and join a sports team or something to keep myself out of trouble."

"Focusing on college?" Leon asked Beckett.

"I took up piano again. I'm teaching lessons this summer to make some money," Beckett said, taking his yo-yo out to play with it. "What, you're not going to flee the country with Brennan?"

"Brennan doesn't have a passport," Leon said. "My family has a cabin that Brennan and I are going to spend a week at."

Things were still awkward between me and Leon's family. But his mom and sister had taken a liking to me. Adam wasn't around much, so I only had to deal with him every once in a while. And Constance's cruel comments became less and less as time went on and he saw how happy Leon was. He might be a shitty man, but he was a shitty man who loved his son.

Ren came into our room and leaned against Tessa. "Parents are starting to show up. Might want to check if yours are out there."

We were all dressed in our uniforms since we'd had a ceremony this morning. We all flocked to the window, peeking out for any sign of our parents.

My own parents had never called me back. Ted said he wasn't sure who was picking me up from the Academy, but that it would be someone I recognized, so to just keep an eye out.
