Adelaide sat in the library with her knees to her chest, hugging her legs, with Celtore standing on her knees. She watched his scales shimmer as the sunrays that shone through the library window landed on him, a magnificent golden light beam shone brightly on her uniform's metal button. She was unperturbed in the silence and often felt like drifting to sleep in the therapeutic dazzle of colour that flickered before her.

Without warning the library doors opened and she heard the servant's voice echoing through the room, Celtore jumped off her legs and peered round the corner of a bookshelf. She could not sense any fear from Celtore, so she also hid behind the shelf, silently looking around to face the library doors. She saw a young boy carrying a khopesh, wearing the uniform of a first year. He had a salamander demon resting on his shoulder, and upon seeing this, Celtore's blood pressure increased. Adelaide ordered him to calm down through her mind. Celtore calmed down, but flapped his wings in irritation, making it sound like a whirlwind had entered the library.

Adelaide pulled him back and scolded him, ordering him never to retaliate in that way if they ever have to keep quite again. She kept silent, hoping that the boy would leave the library. "Hello?" The boy said. Adelaide closed her eyes in worry and her heart dropped. Please don't find us... She wished.

Adelaide held onto Celtore, tightly, but to no avail. Celtore flapped vigorously, the claws on his wings scratched Adelaide's arms, she let go of Celtore. The mischievous dragon ran round the corner to find the salamander demon, and upon doing so his feet made the sound of a dog running to it's owner, only this running was not to greet the approaching strangers.

The salamander noticed the charge of aggression emanating from the dragon's body language and growled, jumping down from the boy's shoulder. The salamander opened it's mouth to harm the dragon, releasing a cloud of smoke as the jaws separated.

The acid in Celtore's glands boiled, he moved his head back to project the acid into the mouth of the salamander. Adelaide jumped from behind the bookshelves and ran to Celtore, she scooped him up and held him close to her chest. The mellow yet fast beat of Adelaide's heart calmed Celtore, he closed his eyes and the acid stopped bubbling. The salamander climbed up the leg, then torso, and finally sat on the shoulder of the boy.

"Hello?" The boy asked again with more confusion in his voice than before. Adelaide reciprocated the greeting by smiling warily and looking at him, uneasily.
