Celtore jumped off Addie's shoulder and he and Ignatius met each other on a step, but, before either of them could make any move, Addie did something she knew she would regret: Addie grabbed one of Celtore's wings and pulled him away, she finally let her emotions show as his cries of pain scorched her heart, but she could not let him get away with it.
The dragon constantly tried to fly his way free, but Addie's grip was too tight. She ran down the stairs and passed the falling Fletcher, and the others watched as they saw the side to Adelaide they hoped never to see again.
Adelaide ran down each flight of stairs, still sobbing from the lost connection of her, and Celtore's, heart. She watched the poor dragon look around the academy, searching for a way to escape, and looking for someone to help him; but there was none.
Adelaide breathed heavily; her tears were making her cloak a little damp. She kept watching her demon squirm, but she looked away after he glanced at her with misunderstood eyes.

Adelaide and Celtore reached the bottom of the staircase and Adelaide ran outside of the academy, using her other hand to carry Celtore in her palm.
When the doors closed she knew she could not be watched, and she lowered Celtore onto the floor. She opened her black satchel and took out her pentacle: she placed it on the floor, in front of her demon, and knelt onto her knees. She looked at Celtore and scowled, "Celtore, I will infuse you for as long as I see it fit." She explained in hatred, "And you will not come out until I think you have learnt your lesson."
The dragon cowered and bowed his head in shame; he lay down and tried to perform tricks, he even submitted to her - which was a big step for a ferocious beast, like himself, to do -, but Adelaide's heart could not be persuaded to change. Although broken, it was right.
Adelaide looked to the center of the pentacle, placed her hands on the leather, and concentrated as hard as she could. She fought the guilt and regret which had accumulated into a ball in the back of her throat, and pushed the mana into the pentacle. Celtore began to fade, and Adelaide heard his little squeak for the last time.
Adelaide stood up, exhausted after the transfusion she hadn't performed since first grade, and scooped up the pentacle. She folded it up and placed it back into her satchel, fastening the golden buckle; she pressed her fingers on the cold metal for a moment, and breathed in, swallowing her emotions, "He will be back." She told herself, confidently. She moved her hand away and sighed, happily: she was ready for the war!
