SCENE I - A street in Greece, enter CHORUS.
CHORUS: Antinous, and th' emperor Greece,
Though both had perished some long time ago,
Now upon this stage will once again greet,
To show those who watch how their story goes.
Antinous leaped as Hadrian dodged,
The powers outside their undying love.
Both with magnetized hearts, their bodies' lodged.
To reach toward the sun and fly like the dove.
But forces outside take gravity's pull,
And place its weight on poor Antinous.
Despite their love being one that was full,
Hadrian's love was not continuous.
Oh! Learn what thou must! For we must disband,
Not for curtain call, but for Hadrian.
