Lydia

The first thing she saw when she woke up were the lights, why were they so bright? She heard a distant beeping and it reminded her of something familiar. Then she remembered, she was in the hospital because Stiles attacked her. But it wasn’t really Stiles was it? The adorable, sarcastic boy she knew would never hurt her, but when he came at her with that look in his eyes it all felt so real.

Someone must have noticed she was awake because her thoughts were interrupted moments later when the doctor walked in. He has warm brown eyes and grey hair, she felt like she could trust him, she felt safe, but you never know in Beacon Hills.  He smiles at her and begins asking questions,

“Hello Lydia, my name is Dr. Grant Evans and I will be taking care of you for the next couple of weeks. How are you feeling? Any discomfort? Do you remember what happened?”

She was used to the hospital after being in the same one previously, she answered, “Okay, not really, yes.” After a couple more questions he smiled wrote it down on his clipboard and left.

The moment he left two more figures rushed in, her mother was first and Allison not very far behind. “Lydia you’re awake, we were so worried. We weren’t allowed to talk to you until the everyone knew you were okay.” this came from Allison. Lydia half smiled, her thoughts wandering immediately to Stiles. She opened her mouth to ask but was interrupted by Scott who had just walked in, “Stiles is in the hallway, he has been for the past four days, if you were wondering.” She thought about talking to him but immediately scenes of the attack flashed in her mind like a horror movie on replay.

“No, it’s okay thanks Scott.” After the whole gang came and said a few words and hugged her she was exhausted.  She looked up and tilted her head, “Mom is it okay if I go to bed? I am really tired.” Her mom hesitated before smiling down at her daughter and saying, “Of course sweetie. You are so strong, and I am so proud of you. I love you.” After they exchanged a few more words she turned to leave. She stopped at the door, “Stiles has been sleeping here since he woke up.” she walked out leaving Lydia alone in her hospital room looking like she had just seen a ghost.

Stiles

What did he do? How could he let this happen? Does Lydia hate him? Why does he always mess things up?

These are the thoughts that haunt him every time he is conscious. Lydia still won’t talk to him and honestly he couldn’t blame her. She had had to go through so much because he wasn’t strong enough to keep the stupid goddamn evil Japanese spirit out of him. These were the same thoughts that woke him up Thursday morning as nurses rushed around the hospital halls and voices spoke over the intercom. Melissa walked up to him, “Stiles we haven’t talked very much about the accident.” He looked down, “It wasn’t an accident it was my fault, Lydia would still be okay if I had been stronger.”

Melissa looked down at him sadly, “Stiles we both know it wasn’t your fault, no one blames you for this. Not even Lydia, she is just adjusting and needs time. How about this, why don’t you go talk to her?” He thought for a moment and decided maybe she was right. He took a deep breath and walked into her hospital door. She looked up surprised as he walked in, there was something that lingered in her eye. He couldn’t figure out what it was, fear maybe, perhaps it was hope, but before he could tell she looked back down and started to fidget with her fingers. Hesitantly he sat down at the chair nearest to him. “Lydia I am so sorry, I never would have done it if I had control. I would never hurt you Lydia, please I’m so sorry.” He repeated this over and over until he gave up and walked out of the room.

As Stiles walked out of her room a part of her wanted to call out for him and tell him to come back. But the other part of her was still scared every time she looked into his eyes. She thought she was stronger than this, but something about the way he looked at her scared her, it sparked a feeling deep inside her that was unlike any other. It wasn’t like when she was with Jackson or Aiden, it felt warm and safe. But when she looked at the same face while it hurt her it broke something inside of her.

 Stiles

Scott walked up to him, “Stiles you have to leave this hospital. You need to shower and eat some real food. I can’t keep bringing you new clothes everyday.” Maybe he was right, he was starting to smell funny and some of the nurses had been looking at him strangely. He nodded and got onto the back of Scott’s motorcycle.

A few days after Stiles finally left the hospital (although only for an hour or two) Lydia finally decided it was time. Stiles had been coming into her room every day at the same time to talk to her and apologize. She looked at the clock it read 11:00 pm and waited. Stiles walked in moments later and sat in his regular chair. She looked up at him as he began, “Lydia-” she interrupted him before he could finish his sentence, “Stiles stop talking.” He looked up from the ground in amazement. “Come here.” she said, he practically tripped walking over to her hospital bed before sitting down. “Lydia I am so sorry, I would have never hurt you. I care about you so much, I am so sorry this is all my fault. “ She took his hands like he did to her weeks ago when she was holding the red string. “Lydia I am so sorry, I would have never. I would have never hurt you.”

He knew then what he was going to say before he said it. He felt the same bravery that surged through his veins when he asked her to dance. “Lydia I would have never hurt you. It is the worst thing I have ever done and I will regret it for the rest of my life. I am so sorry Lydia. I never wanted to hurt you.  I am in love with you, I have been since third grade.”

She felt a similar feeling to when she kissed him while he was having a panic attack. Pure terror. But this time was different. As soon as he said those words and looked at her the way he used to she knew he meant it. She thought back to the locker room and grabbed his face, she looked into his eyes and kissed him. It was different from their first kiss, it wasn’t rushed or panicked. It was like every bad thing that had ever happened to her disappeared, like no one else in the world mattered but him. This pale, sarcastic boy with a goofy grin was sitting before her and she had finally accepted what she had tried so hard to deny, she was in love with Stiles Stilinski.

Stiles

As soon as she pulled away he wanted to kiss her again. Lydia Martin had the prettiest strawberry blonde hair and smile he had ever seen and he wanted to get lost in her kiss over and over again. She looked at him with a distracted smile, like she was deep in thought. He wondered what was going on inside her mind. “Stiles-” she said but this time it was his turn to interrupt her, he thought as he kissed her again. He knew he was the luckiest man alive to be able to love Lydia Martin and if it was okay with her, he never wanted to stop.
