I smiled at Caroline and waved her off while she walked up the stairs to the hotel room. Marcel had been calling me asking to meet him in his loft so that's why I had to cut our little trip short.

"Bye." Caroline waved back with a smile. "You should call me sometime, let me know how it goes with your family."

I nodded my head and walked off as she entered the building. She was the second person that tried to convince me to stay. This is why I never make appearances when I'm alive, I don't know if I'd be a good person or a bad person if I were to leave.

Hayley

Sitting down on the dark gray couch in the living room I stared at Elijah's pictures that hung up on the wall in the Mikaelson mansion. I was still thinking about everything that he's been through. Everything that he put me through in that damn pendant.

I mean if he would've killed me, if it wasn't for Hope I'd probably be a lost cause too. When I heard footsteps, I looked away from the picture and then at Klaus. He sat down across from me on the other couch.

"Thank you." He nodded rubbing his hands together. "You saved the day once again with your bravery and I never doubted you for one second."

Looking down at my feet I ignored any eye contact with Klaus and nodded my head. Saving the day put me in a position where I questioned my taste in men.

"Oh." Klaus nodded. "I see. You went in there with hopes of finding nothing but unicorns and rainbows."

"I just...I thought I'd find him in a good place. Holding on to a good memory." I mumbled finally looking at Klaus.

"Hayley?" He sighed. "You know who we are." He nodded. "As a vampire our senses are heighten, it took Elijah the least amount of time to be able to control it. That's what makes him the better brother. He always has been. What you saw in there was his past, he's different now-"

"No Klaus he's not different." I shook my head. "When the Hollow was possessing you and Marcel I asked him what would he have done to those children if there wasn't another way. Wanna know what he said Klaus?" I questioned with a serious look on my face. "He said what needed to be done. He just slaughtered fourteen innocent harvest girls not knowing the odds of bringing them back. What is his deal with killing children?!" I snapped.

Klaus's facial expression changed while he tightened his jaw and batched his eyes a few times before taking a deep breath.

"You saw it." He mumbled.

"Was that your first time daggering him?" I questioned.

"No." He shook his head. "It was the fourth time actually. "And it wasn't because he killed those people, it was because he killed someone that I almost let in. I was the bad guy in that situation-"

"He called you an abomination to your family Klaus, he blamed you for Mikael's eager to kill you and the rest of your siblings. I don't even know what always and forever means anymore. I've never..." my eyes began to water while I placed my hand over my chest. "Klaus I've never been so afraid of anything in my life. If it wasn't for Hope I'd probably be dead-"

"Hayley?" Klaus cut me off getting up and walking over to the other couch where I was. "The only reason that you were afraid is because he showed you the unexpected. The unexpected can sometimes be scary, but you have to know that the Elijah we know now, the one who you love would never hurt you."
