Gem for Success
"Do more than what is required. What is the distance between someone who achieves their goals consistently and those who spend their lives and careers merely following? The extra mile."
- Gary Ryan Blair

We stood there staring, no glaring at each other neither of us backing down.

He finally spoke again.

"You know I could have easily killed you. Instead I had mercy on you and allowed you to live on the condition that you joined my gang. But the second I turned around and gave you some space you betrayed me."

He let out a dry chuckle.

"I guess you see me as a monster just because I'm a gang leader right?"

"Answer me." He yelled.

No you aren't, you're just someone who's living on the wrong side of life was what I wanted to say but I said something else.

"Yes you are a monster. You are probably the worst person I've ever met and you know what, It would have been much better if you killed me instead of making me join your gang."

Lies, all lies.

Then he continued.

"I really believed you wouldn't escape you know. You know I didn't want you to go to that car with Joe but a part of me had a little faith in you. But the worst part is you tried to deceive me. Did you really think I wouldn't find out you made Joe betray me. But don't worry I already took care I him."

I let out a gasp and looked at him in shock. He couldn't have found out. I felt my legs about to give out at any moment and held on to something for support. My entire body was trembling.

"Did you kill him." I asked in a shaky voice.

He smirked and then replied.

"Haven't you heard that betrayal is paid with blood."

I wanted to scream but I couldn't. I felt like there was no oxygen in my body. This was not the time for me to be weak.

"I. Want. To. See. Natalia. Now." I said almost out of breath.

"Let's go."

He led me into another room and there before me was my friend tied to a chair. I expected her to be bruised or injured or downcast but she was absolutely fine. She looked kind of happy.

I rushed over to meet her just as Nathaniel entered the room with a bottle of water probably for her.

I hugged her tightly.

"Are you okay."

"Sort of Fer. I'm so glad you're here and alive."

I turned around and saw the duo discussing then Nathaniel approached us.

"Don't you dare come closer."

"It's ok Fer, he's been really nice to me. Plus my throat is dry."

She collected the water from him and drank it.

"Do you know why I brought you here Fer. To teach you what happens when I'm betrayed." Azriel said.

"You already killed someone because of me what could be worse than that."

"You're about to find out."

I looked at him totally confused. Just then James came in and took me away from Natalia. His grip on me was firm.

"Let me go. What are you doing."

I tried to free myself from his iron grip but my efforts were futile. It was then I realized what Azriel meant.

He walked dangerously towards Natalia like a lion ready to finish off his prey. He brought out his gun and pointed it at Natty's head.

"Betrayal is paid with blood Fer. But your betrayal will be payed with the blood of those you love."

"No, please don't do this. I promise you I'll do whatever you want just don't kill her, please." I cried out in despair.

"You should have thought of the consequences of trying to escape from me."

I tried to free myself from James grip but I couldn't.

"Mate don't do it." Nathaniel said.

"Listen to him Azri." James said.

"Please, I beg you don't kill her."

"Fer, no matter what happens don't blame yourself. I couldn't have asked for a better friend than you."

I heard the click of the gun and closed my eyes, tears streaming down my face as I heard the sound of a gunshot.

"Your wish is my command doll face." Azriel said.

I opened my eyes slowly and saw Natty alive.

I rushed over to her and hugged her tightly. We both stayed like that just crying. It was when we let go of each other and calmed down I realized were the only one's in the room.

"I was so scared Natty."

"I know Fer."

"I'm sorry, please forgive me."

"It's okay Fer. Well I don't suppose you want us to try and escape from here." She joked.

"Absolutely not, I won't be trying that again any time soon."

"Anytime soon?"

"I may try it again in the future though. Natty why didn't you leave?"

"I stayed back because I didn't want to leave you all alone. You were in trouble and you needed a friend."

"I understand Natty but you have to go back and I mean today. I need to be assured you're safe."

"Isn't your mom back Fer."

"No and the strangest part is she hasn't yet called.

Just then James and Nat came in.

"It's time to go. Nat will take your friend to the airport while you'll be coming with me."

We hugged each other once more.

"Good bye Fer."

"Good bye Friend."

We made our way into two separate cars.

"So where am I going to James."

"I'm taking you to your new home."

The drive was silent and I took the chance to sleep. The drive seemed so short because James woke me up soon after I slept.

"Fer wake up. Welcome to your new home."

I slowly opened my eyes and took in the magnificent structure before me this wasn't a house. It's a mansion.

My new home for now at least.
