Terrence
I got off early to go to the hospital to visit Denise and the baby. I picked her up some food too, I know she's tired of that hospital food. I'm starting to feel Denise. I know she's feeling me. I don't know what's up with me and Emily. She's sending me mixed signals. At times it seems like she wants to be with me other times she don't. When I made it to her door I knocked on it. "Come in.". I walked in. When she saw me she smiled, I smiled back. "Please tell me that's my food.".
"It is.", I said giving it to her.
"Thank you.", she said as I washed my hands.
"No problem.". I picked up Aaliyah, that's the baby's name. Once I picked her up I got a call. I ignored it, I'm sure it's nothing important. They keep calling. I just turned my phone off not really paying attention to it. "What was wrong with Olivia yesterday?".
"She was mad I didn't play with her and she was mad that she had to come to the hospital."
"Oh."
Emily
Terrence didn't answer the phone and now Olivia's still at school. I need to stay late to finish up some work. I'll just leave work and pick her up, I hope I don't get in trouble, I can't leave my baby at school any longer. It hasn't been a really long time but still she's about to be 6, it's a really long time to her.
...
The doorbell rung as I listened to Olivia read her book in the living room. "Keep reading.". I went and answered the door, it's Terrence. I'm not gonna say anything about him not answering, he was probably busy. I moved over so he could come in. "She's in the living room.". He went to the living room and I went to my room. I got dressed then went to the living room to tell Terrence I was about to go to the store for dinner.
Terrence
We talked, well I gave her money, and she's not mad at me anymore. Emily let me stay for dinner. While we were talking and eating my phone started vibrating. I looked and it's Denise. "I gotta take this.", I said standing up. They looked at me as I answered my phone and left the room.
...
"I gotta go to the hospital.", I said looking at them with my hands on the chair.
"That's more important than dinner with your family?", Jayden asked looking at me.
"Jayden be quiet.", Emily said. "We understand.".
"Next time I'll stay."
"Yeah right.", Jayden said under his breath. I think I'm the only one who heard him.
"Okay.", Emily said.
"I'll see y'all later.", I said to everybody.
"See you later.", Emily and Olivia said. "Jayden your dad's talking to you.", Emily said.
"I hear him."
"Respond to him."
"Goodbye father.", he said looking at me. "One question before you leave.".
"What?"
"Is this how things are now?"
"What do you mean?", I asked confused.
"You're just gonna leave us whenever she calls?"
"No-"
"Is the baby more important than us? Will you put more time and effort into them? Will you put all of your time and effort into them? Are you just gonna say fuck us?", he asked standing up.
"Jayden!", Emily said before I could say anythimg.
"N-"
"Are you gonna be like your dad?", he asked with his head tilted grinning. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths.
"Jayden sit down, Terrence just go.". I looked at him for a minute before leaving. I hate when people say shit like that.
Emily
I hope this isn't something that will happen all the time, that's not his only child. "He couldn't wait just 10 more minutes?", Jayden asked. "I see where we stand. Can I leave the table?".
"Yeah, don't forget to clean the kitchen."
"Okay.". Jayden left.
"Will he always leave us?"
"I don't know baby.", I said honestly. That's sad. The answer should be no but I can't say that cause you never know with him. He said he'd never cheat on me again but he did, so many times. Me and Olivia sat at the table talking about her and her birthday until we were done eating. When we were done she took a shower and I got her stuff ready for tomorrow. I read her a book then she went to sleep. I got my stuff ready for tomorrow, took a shower then went to sleep.
Terrence
I know the kids feel some type of way about me leaving especially Jayden but she needed me at the hospital with her. Emily understand, that's what matters the most.
