Forcing herself to take step after step towards Jack's body was one of the hardest things she'd ever done, harder than watching Pitch take her fairies.
The hardest thing tough, was touching him.
She had sat there for ten minutes, reaching out to stroke his hair just to retract her hand away.
Finally, she reached out far enough for her fingertips to brush against the snowy white hair on his head, instantly breaking down in sobs and pulling his lifeless body to her chest.
"I'm sorry Jack, I'm so sorry."
She could've done something.
They could have done something.
They should've done something.
They were too stuck in the quicksand to notice Jack was sinking faster than any of them were.
And now, he was gone.
