A Loner's Tale

Off to Class

*bell rings*

"Well Nate it's time to head out to class, so you can complain about it later." I say as I start to walk out.

"Lance, you said you would give me a ride to class." Yuki says as she quickly grabs my arm.

"I did didn't I. Alright hop on." I say as I crouch down. She jumps on my back and I hold her legs to make sure she doesn't fall off as she puts her hands around my neck.

"Alright you ready, because we're about to take off." I say as she nods her head, and with that I get up and run through the halls blasting through anyone who doesn't move out the way. People start yelling and cursing as they push to get out the way.

"WEEEEEEE, FASTER, FASTER!"

"You wanna go faster huh? Alright well you asked for it!" I say as I start sprinting as fast as I can.

"WOHOO, THIS IS SO FUN!" Yuki shouts in my ear.

"Alright this is your captain speaking, we are about to reach our destination please prepare for landing." I say to Yuki. I start slowing down and slide right in front of the class door. Yuki's hair whips forward as I stop and then comes back going directly into Yuki and my face.

"WOO, THAT WAS FUN! AGAIN, AGAIN!" Yuki says excitedly as she starts getting off my back.

"Well how about we wait till next class to do that. I'm a bit tired right now." I say laughing at myself for running so hard and putting my one hand behind my back.

"Aww, alright I guess I'll have to wait then." She starts to say in a sad tone of voice.

"You don't have to get so upset about it you know that." I say acting a lot more exasperated than I really am.

"Hey Lance, I see Yuki found you already." I hear Jude say as he starts walking up to me.

"Oh hey Jude, and yea she found me alright. Now I have to give her a piggy-back ride to each class now."

"Next time you shouldn't worry me so much. Jude told me what you do in your free time. I couldn't sleep one bit after hearing that. I thought something bad had happened to you." Yuki says with a worried look on her face.

I turn towards Jude and start speaking to him in a quieter voice. "So you mean to tell me you told Yuki about my little business on the side?" I say a bit irritated.

"Yes, your "little" business on the side, I had told her about. I figured she should have the right to know that you are involved in the Black Market considering you two are just so close. " Jude had said with a straight serious face.

"You could've just told me you were a part of the Black Market. You know you can trust me right, I would never tell anybody about it." Yuki had said reaching out to grab my hand. I took her hand and pulled her in closer so I can whisper in her ear. I need to make sure to keep this quiet, I can't risk drawing too much attention to myself today.

"Yuki of course I trust you. I just didn't want you getting involved in this. That way if something ever did happen I'd at least know you were safe, and can you keep it down about the whole Black Market thing I'd hate to get arrested or to draw too much attention."

"Of course, but still why didn't you just tell me. I don't care if I got involved in this or not. I just want to be able to be with you. I don't want to be safe and worried sick because I don't know where you are or if you were safe or not." Yuki had said in a quiet whisper with some tears coming down. I wipe some of the tears off her cheek with my thumb to try and calm her a bit.

"Hey I'll be alright ok you don't have to worry about me. I've gone through quite a bit of adventures already, it'll take quite a bit to take me out." I say with a grin on my face to hopefully cheer her up a bit. Yuki smiles a bit and nods her head a bit.

"Okay, but I'm still coming with you for now on, alright." She had said in a kind of commanding tone.

" Alright, well since you know I guess I can't change that now, but you have to promise me that you will do whatever I say no matter what when I'm at work ok. No ifs, ands, or buts ok. I don't want you getting hurt because of me." I say with a serious look on my face.

"Alright deal. You're the boss." She said with a smile on her face as she grabbed my arm and pulled me closer. I begin to laugh a bit nervously at that and say, "Alright well I'm glad we got that all settled and squared away. I'll have a little talk with you later then Jude, and Yuki can you please not tell anyone else this. Only Jude knows about me and the Black Market thing and I'd rather not get too many people I care about involved in this."

"Okie-dokie!" I hear her say with enthusiasm as she starts to pull me into the classroom. As she is doing this I could start hearing loud footsteps and a loud noise screaming. "LANNNNCEEEEE!" through-out the halls and coming closer to where we are.

"What now?" I say sighing a bit on the inside. Why is it that the one important day I have to start laying low and collecting info, everything has to start happening?

"Oh, here comes Nate right on schedule."

"Well yea, he has class with us too first period, but why is he got to be screaming so loud? Especially my name of all things." I ask shaking my head. Why couldn't he scream anything else.

*sigh "I can't catch a break can I?" I ask myself under my breath. After I say that Nate finally gets here in front of us and starts panting.

"Do..Do you know how long a run it is to..to get from Lucy's class to here?" I hear him say as he continues panting.

"Suck it up Nate, you'll live. It's not like you were bleeding or anything during that run." I say smacking him on the back. "If you're done complaining we got class to start, and I have a long overdue nap to attend to."

"No, I'm sorry but you're not going to get your nap just yet Lance." I hear Jude say. I turn my head to look at him and he pushes me into class and whispers one thing in my ear.

"I said I was going to get answers, and now is a better time than any."
