I woke up to Duncan shaking me awake.
"Hey Shorty. Time for the challenge" he said. I sighed and got up.
Duncan got down, and then helped me down so that I didn't fall again. I got ready in the girls side of the cabin, and we all went to the fire pit.
I sat on the ground in front of Duncan, and he started playing with my hair.
"Campers, today's challenge will test your outdoor survival skills. I'm not going to lie to you. Some of you may not come back alive" said Chris. Everyone gasped.
"Just joking! Hahaha! All you have to do is spend one night in the woods. Everything you need is at your team's campsite in the forest. You just have to find it" he continued, holding out maps and compasses.
He tossed them to Heather and Duncan, though Courtney snatched them from him.
"Oh! And watch out for bears! Lost a couple of campers in preproduction" Chris warned. I tensed up, not liking the sound of bears attacking us.
"First team back for breakfast wins invincibility" Chris finished.
He blew a horn.
"Well. Off you go" he said. My team started following Courtney, but Duncan and I trailed behind a bit.
He gave me a pointed look.
I knew what this was about and sighed.
"It started when my mom and brother died. I was crushed. My brother always looked out for me, and my mom and I were basically best friends. I told her everything. Then, my best friend Kelly got cancer and only had a few months to live.
And my dad got remarried to my step mom, and she mentally and physically abused me. She would say I was fat and useless and that the reason people died was to get away from me. I was kind of gullible back then, so I believed her" I started.
"Then, I met Claude, and it stopped for a while. Then, he did what my step mom did to me, and it became worse" I said, looking down.
He put an arm around my shoulder. "But that's not it" I said.
"I nearly killed myself so many times. But, each time, I thought of Sammy, and how I would never see her fore up, and how I would be leaving her alone. I couldn't do that to her. She has saved my life so many times and she didn't even know it" I said, and tears fell.
"Nicky, I honestly don't know what to say. You are the strongest person I know. I just can't believe you put up with that" he said. I shrugged.
"Hey, if you ever need to talk, I'm here for you" he said. I put my head on his shoulder. "Thanks" I said.
Soon we reached the campsite, and started setting up.
Geoff tried to flirt with Bridget, but ended up making himself look stupid. I chuckled.
I was looking for berries when I found a giant bush. "Jackpot!" I said with a some, and started to pick them.
I walked back to the camp, and everyone started to snack on them. "Hey guys, look at what I found!" DJ came over holding a cute little bunny. It coughed  as though it were a forty year old man who smokes too much. I 'awwed' and pet the bunny.
"Well, I've never had rabbit stew before, but what the heck? I'm game" said Duncan.
"No! 1) rabbit tastes gross, 2) we have no idea how to skin a rabbit, and 3) it's too cute to eat" I said. "Exactly! Besides, it's my new pet! I'm calling him Bunny" said DJ.
I nodded.
"You couldn't find any food?" asked Courtney. I pouted a bit.
I found plenty of berries to eat that would last us a good few hours.
"Hey! Nicky found enough berries for all of us!" Bridget protested.
"Hey, as anyone seen Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Idiot?" asked Duncan.
Good point, I haven't seen them for a while. No wonder it was so quiet.
No one knew, so we gathered around the fire, and snacked on berries.
After a little while, an owl hooted and Bridget tensed.
"Be cool. It's just an owl" said DJ.
"Sorry. I just get really freaked out in the forest" she said rubbing her arm.
"This reminds me of this really scary story I heard once" said Duncan. I tensed, and move slightly closer to Duncan. He smirked at me.
"Awesome! Tell it man!" said Geoff. "Are you sure? Because the story I'm thinking of is really hard core" Duncan said.
"Ooo. We're so scared" Courtney said sarcastically. "Alright. But don't say I didn't warn you" he said, before starting the story.
"One night, a lot like this one..."
"Suddenly, they heard this tap tap tapping on the side of the car. The girl started to freak out, and by this time, even the guy was getting a bit scared. So he turned the car on and he stepped on it. When they got back to k the girls house, she opened the door and screamed. Because there, hanging on the door handle, was the bloody hook! They say that this killer is still alive. Wandering these very woods. He could be just about anywhere really. Maybe even right HERE!!" Duncan yelled and held up a shiny hook.
Everyone screamed, and I backed away from him, visibly shaking.
Duncan started laughing evilly. "Duncan! That was so not funny!!" Courtney yelled, getting in his face. "Oh yes it was! I just wish it was all on camera! Oh! Oh wait! It is!" he laughed, pointing to one of the cameras.
"You are so vile! Do your parents even like you?" Courtney asked. I was still shaking, but I tensed at this statement.
"I don't know, Jumpy McChicken, I haven't asked them lately" he said.
Then, there was a howling of a wolf, and I jumped back even further from there, ultimately running into Duncan. He wrapped his arms around me, and by this time, I was full on shaking in fear.
Duncan looked down at me and noticed this.
"Sorry, Shorty. Didn't think you'd get that scared" he said to me. "I-Its okay" I said.
He gave me a small smile.
"Okay, that's enough excitement for now. Time to sleep" said DJ. We all liked into the tent, and I was in between Bridget and Duncan.
I fell asleep, and Duncan put an arm around me, and brought me close to him.
3rd Person POV
Bridget squirmed, really needing to pee, but she didn't want to leave the tent.
"Need to pee?" asked DJ. "Like crazy, but I'm too scared to leave the tent" she said. "Yeah. Me too" he said, holding up a jar of urine.
Bridget then got up, and started walking.
But, bats woke up, and as they flew, one of the flew into Bridget's face. She lost her balance and accidently kicked a hot stone near the tent.
This caused it to catch on fire.
"Great! That's just great Bridget! Now we have nowhere to sleep!" Courtney screeched. "Yo, Drama Queen. Nicky is trying to sleep. Besides, you need to relax. It's cool" Duncan said, gesturing to Nicky, who was curled up into a ball and still sound asleep.
"It's cool? It's COOL!? Things could not possibly get worse!" she yelled.
And just like that, it started to rain. Courtney yelled in frustration.
And so, DJ held up a giant leaf to keep everyone dry while Duncan held Nicky on his lap while she slept.
Soon, everyone was asleep.
The next morning, Duncan woke up with his arms around Nicky who was cuddling up to him, but Courtney was also cuddling up to him
He smirked, though he knew he would never in a million years go for Courtney.
He honestly preferred Nicky.
Courtney then woke up.
"Oh my gosh! Ew! You were cuddling me!" she accused.
"I was calmly lying on my back while holding Nicky. You were snuggling up to me" he said.
"You are such an ogre!" she yelled. "I've been called worse" he stated and she yelled in frustration, causing Nicky to wake up.
Nicky's POV
I woke up next to Duncan. "What happened? Where's the tent?" I asked. "I accidently burned it down" Bridget said. I nodded, and got up and stretched, hearing my back crack.
"Come on! We have to get there first!" Tyler said, and we all started running.
We were all out of breath, but we got there first.
"We're the first ones back!" Courtney cheered.
"Oh no! They beat us here! This is all your fault!" Heather yelled, and pushed down Owen.
"Ah, ah, ah, ah! Not so fast, Gopherinos! It's seems like the Killer Bass are missing a few fish!" Chris pointed out.
"Oh, you mean Katie and Sadie?" asked Courtney. "Pretty sure they were eaten by wolves."
"Darn shame" said Duncan sacastically, causing me to chuckle. However, proving their story wrong, Katie and Sadie rushed in.
"We made it!" Katie cheered. "We're safe!" Sadie added.
"Oh my gosh guys! We got totally lost, and then got into this massive fight" Sadie started rambling as though we all cared.
"And then there was this huge bear, and he was all like, 'rawr your in my crib so get out'" Katie added.
"And we had to run and it was like, so scary!" Sadie continued.
"Oh, Sadie! I'm so sorry I said I was prettier than you!" Katie then said. "And I'm so sorry I brought up the snack shack!" Sadie added. "And I'm sorry I said your butt was too big to fit in the bus seats!" Katie finished.
"You did?" asked Sadie.
"Um. Well, not to your face" Katie said innocently.
"Oh, who cares! We're safe, and your my best friend and I love you!" Sadie brushed it off and they hugged. "Aww! And I love you too!" Katie said.
Courtney cleared her throat.
"Are you two done with your little love fest?" she asked. They both nodded.
"Good. Because thanks to you, we just lost the challenge!" she yelled.
Their smiles dropped.
"Alright, Killer Bass. One of your fishy butts is going home! Gophers, your going on an all expense paid trip to the Tuck shop!" Chris announced. The Gophers cheered, and they ran to the shop.
We gasped and glared at Katie and Sadie, who were totally oblivious and still hugging each other.
Soon, we were at the bond fire.
"Alright. You've all cast your votes. The camper who dies not receive a marshmallow will immediately hit the dock of shame, grab the boat of losers, and get the heck out of here! And you can't come back. Ever! Now, I can your all tired tonight, so I'm going to just throw them to you. Savvy? Courtney, Duncan, Nicky, Bridget, DJ, Harold, Geoff, Tyler. Ladies, this is the final marshmallow of the evening" said Chris as the two girls hugged each other.
"Sadie!" he called, and tossed the marshmallow, but she completely ignored it.
"No! Why Katie!? Why her!?" Sadie cried.
"It's so unfair!" Katie cried as well.
"I so can't do this! I've never been anywhere without Katie! We have to be together, or I'll totally die!" Sadie complained.
"Sadie, listen to me. You can do this. You are strong, and beautiful and like, maybe even smarter than me. And plus, your like the funnest girl I know! You have to do it for both of us!" Katie encouraged her as Sadie started to cry.
Katie boarded the boat, and Sadie leaned over the dock, sounding like a dying mule as she cried.
"I miss you already!" she called to Katie. "I miss you more!" Katie called back.
"No, I miss you more!" Sadie argued back.
"No way! I totally miss you more!" Katie shouted back.
"I miss you infinitely more! Bye!!" Sadie shouted back as she waved.
After that, we walked back to the cabin.
Courtney was getting bugs out of her face as Duncan and I approached her.
"Ugh. What do you want now?" she asked, annoyed.
"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry I scared you" he said to her as I went into the cabin. I got changed, and went out as Courtney walked to the bond fire after screaming and telling Duncan she hates him.
I laughed and sat next to him.
"Come on, let's go to the bond fire" he said, and grabbed my hand.
Then, we walked over to the bond fire.
