Nicky's POV
It was just a normal day, and we were lounging around on the steps of the cabin. I was sitting in the wooden railing, watching as Duncan carved in mine and his initials, and Geoff was just sitting on the steps.
"Okay. Whose made s'mores out of my underwear!?" Hard said angrily. Duncan, Geoff and I started laughing.
He took out one of the pairs and threw it onto the ground... Right in front of Courtney.
"Harold! You are so totally gross!" she shouted at him and walked away.
"No wait! It wasn't me!" Harold called to her, and we laughed some more.
"Idiots!" said Harold and he slammed the door on his way back inside.
"Sometimes, he just makes it too easy" Geoff remarked.
"I hear ya man" said Duncan as he wrapped his arms around me.
"Listen up, you little cockroaches! I want you to report to the Dock of Shame at oh nine hundred hours!" Chef said over the loud speaker.
I started running.
"Guys, he means--" I was cut off by Chef yelling, "That means NOW, soldiers, NOW!!!"
Yeah, everyone started running.
We got to the dock and lined up.
"Line up and stand at attention! You call this proper formation?" Chef yelled. He started to correct everyone's form, but I already knew this.
Claude would sometimes do a check that I can obey orders, so he would make me stand in a corner in army stance for a few hours.
"Well, this will be a fun day" Gwen muttered to Trent.
"What did you say!?" Chef yelled and I flinched.
"Umm. Nothing?" Gwen responded. "And you will continue to say nothing until I tell you that you can say something. Today's challenge will not be an easy one. In fact, I do not expect everyone to come out alive!" Chef yelled.
For some reason, Owen started laughing.
Which got him whipped. I tensed up, memories flooding my head.
I missed Chef say the rules. I only knew we had to call him Master Chief. I ran with everyone down to the beach, where we will get our first assignment.
"Listen up! Each team must hold a canoe over their heads. I catch you taking your hands off the canoe, and you will be eliminated. And no one eats lunch until someone drops out. Canoes up!" he yelled. We all picked up our canoe.
Curse me for being short, because I could barely reach it.
I had to stand on my tippy toes!!
Everyone started saying how easy it is. Great. They jinxed us.
Three hours later
We were hungry, and our arms were sore, and my feet were sore from standing on my toes.
"Come on you sissies! It's only been three hours!" Chef yelled.
"Looks like they missed lunch" Chris mused. "Guess they just weren't hungry! Unless someone wants to quit now" Chef said. Yeah, they were sitting on our canoes.
Geoff and Duncan were messing with Harold again, by fishing with his underwear.
"Time to land that fish" Duncan whispered, and Geoff yanked on the underwear.
"Ow! Idiots!" Harold said.
"Is there a problem down here!?" Chef yelled. "No" said Harold. Night soon fell upon us.
Chef was telling stories about his time int we war. My calves and toes were sore to the point of just calling to the ground.
"Guys? I can't do this anymore. I have no more feeling in my arms" Lindsay complained as she walked to the dock to ring the bell. She just got it with her head.
We all fell to the ground. I could not get up.
Chef had us go to the mess hall.
"You okay baby girl?" asked Duncan as he crouched next to me. I shook my head.
"I had to stand on my toes the entire time" I said. "Oh, baby" he said and picked me up.
We walked to the lodge and sat down on the benches.
"Alright maggots. You got ten minutes to eat before night training begins" he said.
We all started to complain. I stayed quiet. "Um, Master Chief? Where's the food?" asked Gwen. "Your looking at it" he said pointing to the trash cans, and Chris and him walked out to also eat.
Heather and Courtney refused to eat it. I wasn't hungry, so I just sat there with my head in the table.
"I'm gonna be running for office someday, and I don't want someone to pull up a file of me eating garbage" said Courtney.
Duncan and Geoff played nice with Harold and gave him apple juice because they 'felt bad'.
Yeah, it was kitchen grease.
Courtney started to rant on how immature they are.
"Look Princess. We all know you like me. I know it, he knows it, even my girlfriend five feet away knows it. But if you wanna kiss me" he leaned forward. "I won't do that in a million years" he said, and I smirked at her shocked face.
She started ranting on how she actually though he was nice, which had Geoff confused.
He sat next to me and I smirked. "Your secret was almost revealed" I muttered teasingly. He kissed me. "Shut up" he said, and I smiled.
Soon, it was night training.
We had to comply the dance moved of Chef.
And it was a horrible dance.
That is, until it stopped. We all sighed of relief. I turned and saw that Duncan had turned it off.
"Duncan!? What are you doing!?" Courtney exclaimed.
"One if us drops out, we're done for the day" he said with a shrug
"We're done, when I say we're done!" Chef yelled. "Now drip and give me twenty"
Duncan rolled his eyes, but did it. "Anyone else have something they'd like to say?" Chef asked. Gwen asked. To go to the bathroom, but she ended up cleaning it.
We went to the lodge, and we all sat down.
"For your next challenge, you will write a three hundred word essay on how much you love me" said Chef.
"Anyone who falls asleep or fails to complete the challenge will be eliminated!"
Two hours later, I have finished my essay and I was just sitting around when the buzzer went off.
He took our essays and started to read Duncan's aloud.
"I love Master Chief Hatchet because he is very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very... This is just one sentence with five pages of 'verys' in between" Chef yelled.
"It's three hundred words exactly. You can count them if you want" Duncan said with a smirk and I smiled. That was clever.
Chef slipped on Owen's drool.
"Wipe up that drool, you little baby!" Chef yelled. He looked at Trent and DJ, who were asleep. "You two slackers are out. The rest of you, get to bed, and report back at oh five hundred hours" he ordered.
"Uh huh. Missed a spot there, General" Duncan teased. "Boy, do you want to run fifty laps around this camp right now?" Chef asked. "No thanks! He's going straight to bed. Aren't you?" Courtney forced.
She pulled him to the side. He didn't look comfortable as she scolded him. I chuckled.
At least I can trust him.
We went to sleep, and two hours later, we were at the start of an obstacle course.
"You are going to run this course until you can complete it all in under one minute! Am I making myself clear!?" Chef yelled at Duncan.
"Crystal" he said flatly.
"If you lose this for us, I'm going to make you so miserable" Courtney threatened.
"You already do, Princess" he said.
"Go, maggots, go!" Chef yelled.
We all ran. I got through it pretty easily.
Harold ended up swallowing mud, so he got out of the rest of the challenge. Owen broke the wall with his weight, Heather got her leg stich in the rope, so she was just hanging there, and LaShawna was sinking into the mud.
"Fallen soldier, I salute you!" Duncan said as he crawled. "You just bought yourself twenty more push ups!" Chef yelled.
"Thank you!" Duncan said in fake cheerfulness, and he kissed his nose. Chef exploded and Duncan had to spend a night alone in a boat house. We went back to the lodge to eat.
"I'm gonna go check on him" I said, and walked out tot the boat house. I found him just sitting there, but he brightened when he saw me.
"Hey baby" he greeted and pulled me to his lap.
I kissed his cheek.
"Hey" I said, and the door opened again, and Courtney walked in with a bowl of sludge.
"Princess!" Duncan said in surprise. "I wish you'd stop calling me that" she said, though I swear I saw her turned the slightest bit pink.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Even pigs deserve a meal" she said. "Mmm, I'll pass. I think the bait is better" he said, and he pulled me to his side.
"Yeah, well, that's all Chef would serve us after that pathetic performance on the obstacle course" she explained as Duncan took the bowl, only for the food to stick to it.
He threw it away.
And pulled me to his lap again.
"Why do you egg Chef on like that? You know your going to get in trouble" she asked.
She slightly glared at me, and I rested my head on his shoulder.
"Why are you so uptight all the time? And what's your problem with Nicky?" he asked.
She stood up. "I am not uptight! And my only problem with Nicky is because she is turning into you, and I don't like it" she said.
"Yeah, I chose to do that" I said, raising my hand. He chuckled and continued.
"You always follow the rules" he said. "Why do you always have to break them?" she asked.
"Only the ones I want to" he said with a shrug. "Okay, so, maybe I do follow the rules. I guess that makes me a big, uptight loser in your book" she said. "Maybe" he said.
"So, why do you follow them?" he asked. "Because not following them gets me thrown into a fish cabin!" she exclaimed, holding up a fish.
He shrugged.
"Welp, I got Nicky, so I'm okay with it" he said and I blushed a bit.
He looked at me. "Speaking of you, wanna get some real food? You can join us if you want, Courtney" he offered.
"I bet five bucks you won't be around to get it" I said. "Go to the cabin then. It's on" he said and I walked to the cabin.
After about fifteen minutes, everyone gathered at the Gopher cabin, and Duncan and Courtney walked in with baskets of food.
I ate a few PB&J sandwiches and a bit of ice cream before sitting out front on the grass a few yards away.
I sat there until I heard someone throwing up. Another pair of footsteps followed, and suddenly, I heard a thud.
I turned around, and my heart broke. Courtney and Duncan were kissing. I didn't stick around to watch. I went around to the back of the cabin. I decided to do something I haven't done in a few weeks.
I walked to the bathroom, and got our my razor blades.
Tears poured down my face as I dragged it down my arm. It went a little deeper, but I didn't really care at the moment.
Duncan and Courtney were kissing only a few yards away from me. Was he really that heartless?
I didn't realize someone had entered the bathroom until the blade was snatched out if my hands.
"Nicky!!?? What are you doing!?!?" Bridget yelled as Gwen and LaShawna stood at the sinks, clearly shocked. I looked up at her and broke down into tears again. She patched me up, and we walked to the Bass Cabin. No one saw us.
I sat on my bad and Bridget, Gwen and LaShawna sat in front of me.
I looked down
"What happened, girly?" asked LaShawna.
"I, um. I went outside to get some fresh air, and, um, I heard someone throwing up, and I figured someone just ate a bit too much. But, then there was a thud, and I saw, um. Duncan and C-Courtney kissing" I finished, and I curled up in a ball. Gwen hissed in pain.
"Oh my god, and it was right in front of you?" she asked. I nodded.
"Girl, you are not doing any challenges tomorrow. I'mma tell Chef you got injured" said LaShawna and she left.
I simply nodded.
"It just hurts. He was one of the only ones who has ever cared for me" I said.
"What do you mean, one of the only ones?" asked Gwen. I nodded to Bridget to tell her. So, Bridget explained my past and with each word, Gwen seemed almost close to tears. She hugged me.
"Nicky, I am so sorry" she said, and I nodded. "Tell LaShawna. I trust her" I whispered, and Gwen nodded and left.
"I'm just gonna sleep. Wake me up for the challenge" I said.
And so, I went to sleep.
Heyo! So, the next chapter will be part 2, and much much shorter, because Idk, I just wanted a part 1 and 2 for this
