Who Can You Trust?

Nicky's POV
I woke up, and right away regretted it. Today is another messed up challenge.
I rolled over, but Duncan saw that I was awake.
"C'mon Shorty. We have to get up" he said.
"No" I said flatly and cuddled further into my pillow. "Yup. Come on" he said. "No way, nuh uh" I said and curled up in a ball, clutching his pillow. That is, until he picked me up. I laughed. "Put me down!" I said. "No" he said flatly. "Please?" I asked using puppy eyes.
"No way, nuh uh" he said with a smirk. "Your so mean" I whined, and just went back to sleep in his arms. He chuckled and placed me on my feet. "Nooooo! I just got comfy!" I complained.
"Come on, we need to get ready for the challenge" he said, and I finally complied.
"Fine" I said, and walked over to the girls side of the cabin and got changed. Courtney glared at me, but I ignored her. I walked over to get breakfast. "Today's breakfast is Hawaiian Italian fusion casserole" Chef announced. "You mean leftovers from the cooking challenge" said Gwen.
"Yeah that's right! You got a problem with that!?" Chef yelled. "Sir, no sir" Gwen said, and we all sat down and began to eat. Duncan and I went and got coffee, and I smirked when he stole a coffee mug.
Man. What is he doing to me??
"I saw that! How could you just steal a mug" Courtney snapped at him. "Cause it's cool looking, and I don't have one. Well, didn't have one that is" he smirked and I chuckled, and got myself some coffee. Its the only edible thing on this island.
Then, we sat down.
"But you might get kicked off" she protested.
"Awwwww. And here I thought you didn't care about me" Duncan teased. I smirked and put my head on his shoulder, still feeling tired.
"We're one player short and I don't want to lose because you felt like going all criminal on us" she lied. I've become very good at spotting lies.
"She's lying" I said in his ear, and he had a small smile.
"PFT! Whatever, you dig me" he said. I raised a brow, and rolled his eyes. "Ugh! What do I even bother?!" she stormed off.
"You know I like you a million times more then I like her, right?" he told me. "I know. But I still don't want you to get any ideas" I said. He put his arm around me as he ate.
"Trust me. I don't want me getting any ideas either" he said. I nodded, and drank my coffee.
Soon, we went out on the docks.
"So, last week's challenge exposed a few Gopher issues, and I'm sensing funky floating in the Bass pond too" said Chris. I sat on the dock as Duncan nudged Courtney, and she pushed him.
"So. This week's challenge is going to be centered around building trust. Because, all good things begin with a little trust" Chris said. I raised my hand.
"Not always" I said. Duncan gave me a weird look.
"I'll explain later" I told him and he nodded.
"There will be three major challenges that will have to be completed by two or more players on each team. Normally, we like to have the campers choose their partners. But not this time! Haha! More fun for me!" he said, and we walked over to a cliff.
"Okay. So, for the first challenge, you will be doing a free hand rock climbing adventure! Duncan and DJ for the Bass, Heather and Gwen for the Gophers. Here is your belay and harness" said Chris.
Because it wasn't my challenge, I decided to just ignore what everyone was saying. I watched as Duncan harnessed up DJ, and they began climbing.
There were a few explosions, and Chris fired hot sauce at Heather and Duncan. Heather let Gwen fall, and Duncan just ate the hot sauce.
Then, Heather ripped off Gwen's skirt. Duncan looked away, but Chris openly stared. Ew!
But, DJ fell and Duncan had a rope ties around his ankle, so they both ended up just hanging around.
I laughed and helped them down. The Gophers won that challenge.
Next up was another cooking challenge.
For our team, it was Geoff and Bridget. For the Gophers, it was Trent and Lindsay. They had to make a meal out of a poisonous blow fish.
Duncan tried to start kissing my neck, but I swatted him away.
"Not during a challenge. Later" I told him and he sighed, but kept an arm around me.
Bridget made amazing sushi, but Lindsay ended up just smashing it, and adding a bit of ketchup.
We won for sure.
We had to wait a bit for the next challenge, so Duncan and I made out for a bit.
Until Geoff ran in on us.
"Guys! We have a problem! Bunny was eaten by a snake that was taken by an eagle that ended up eaten by a shark!" he exclaimed.
I looked at Duncan.
"On it" he said and he dragged me to the lodge. He grabbed a carrot and I knew what to do. We went out in the woods, and we waved around a carrot until a bunny starts to follow us.
We led it to the blind tobagin, and saw that DJ was driving. "Hey DJ! Look who we found!" I called. He looked and saw it was 'Bunny'.
This motivated him, and they won. But, because DJ took off the blindfold, we lost.
Courtney approached us.
"That was nice. What you did for DJ" she said to him.
"I'm not nice. It just started following me, the weird rabbit" he defended. I snickered.
"Hush you" he muttered to me.
"Make me" I challenged. He smirked. We went to the bond fire, and we listened to Chris do his usual speech. He called out names until it was just Harold and Sadie.
But, Harold got the marshmallow. I voted Sadie off because she could have won it for us, but nope. She knocked out Courtney, which is good, I guess.
But, when the boat pulled up, there was so much squealing that I think my ears bled.
As Duncan and I walked to the cabin, he turned to me.
"What did you mean earlier? About not all good things starting with trust?" he asked. "Well, I trusted Claude, and look where that got me. But, I also got so close to you because of him, and because I trusted you. Good things just don't ALWAYS start good things, but they definitely help. That's all I'm saying" I said. "Oh. I guess that makes sense" he said and he kissed my cheek.
So, we went to bed. But, once I climbed up next to Duncan, he rolled on top of me, and pinned me down. We heavily made out, and eventually went to sleep.
Okay, this chapter is so much shorter, and I'm so sorry for that, but I got really lazy.
I'll do better for the next chapter because there is gonna be DRAMA. But yeah, the next few chapters are gonna be kind of shorter until the Wheel of Misfortune. Hope you'll forgive me! Love you all!!
