Chapter 11

~Alicia's POV~

I brought my head up looking at Dumbledore in confusion.

"I can tell you are both confused. I'd be surprised if you two weren't."

"I don't understand." Harry said.

"It's been tampered with. By the same person who owns it. Professor Horace Slughorn."

I was at lost for words.

"But this other memory is far more interesting."

He handed us the memory and we both poked our head this time.

"Tom! Please slow down!" A woman yelled.

I recognized her voice though but I couldn't place it.

"No! I have to go." Tom replied.

Finally the girl appeared and my jaw dropped.

"Tom please it's important."

"What can possibly be so important right now Arianna? I have to find her." Tom said fiercly.

"Your still obsessed with this whole Enchantress ordeal?" She asked with a fake confused look.

He squinted his eyes and said "You know something don't you?"

"No I-I don't."

"Don't lie to me Arianna."

She gulped and bowed her head in shame.

She did a simple yet complex sort of spell and showed both black and white fire.

He stepped back in shock.

"Your the girl."

"I'm so sorry Tom."

He stood there for a while and then smiled.

He stepped forward and cradled her face.

She smiled and leaned into his hand.

He pulled her to him and kissed her.

The scene changed and it was a dark night.

"Get her!?!" I heard people scream.

Arianna was running and she looked scared.

All of a sudden some man with slick back blonde hair appeared and she fell to the ground.

She looked up in fear and said "Grindelwald."

"Hello Arianna."

"Please. Don't do this."

"You sworn your loyalty to me. And you broke it."

"I swear. I-i"

"I don't want to hear it. You failed me for the last time." He said as he held out a metal blade and Arianna looked at it in fear.

"How did you-"

"I know where to do my research my dear."

She gulped and stepped back.

"NO! ARIANNA!" I heard Tom yell.

She spun around and said "Tom? What are you doing here?"

All of a sudden Grindelwald ran up behind her and slit her throat.

Tom froze and watched as her eyes went blank and she fell to the ground.

"ARIANNA!" He yelled as he ran up to her.

He cradled her dead body and tears fell down on it.

"Love makes you weak young one. I've told you this before. You should have listened to me. This proves I am more powerful than some little Enchantress. Come and join me. And I will show you the road to success."

Tom thought about it for a while and I knew right away he accepted.

As soon as Tom grabbed Grindelwald's hand the memory ended.

I looked at Dumbledore and Harry asked "who was that girl?"

I was the one that answered saying "Arianna. She's my ancestor. I have the same power as her."

"How is this important to Voldemort?" Harry asked.

"This shows what made Voldemort the way he is now. This memory shows the last straw of his humanity. Before then, he was the golden boy and hardly spoke to anyone yet he secretly studied Dark Magic. Then he and Arianna became friends and that passion died down. When they started dating he was a whole new person. He never did dark magic never studied it. He even almost forgotten it. But then the day she died all of his humanity went with her. He was never the same." Dumbledore said.

I thought for a moment and asked "How did you get this memory?"

"Funny you asked that. At first I thought Arianna. But then how would she remember Tom holding her. So then I naturally went to the next person. Tom himself."

"I'm confused. Why would he send this to you?" Harry asked.

"Because Tom still had that one tiny shred of humanity left before that too disappeared. He wanted help at first. Finally he decided to give up completely and forget about Arianna."

"So how does this stop him?" I asked.

"That is where you come in. Harry that first memory I need you to figure out what really happened. You were told to get to know Professor Slughorn and you have done so. So that will be your new task. You may go now."

Harry nodded and left the room.

When Dumbledore was sure Harry was gone Dumbledore looked to me.

"As sure as I know Harry will succeed in his task I'm not sure about yours. I want you to go to Tom and remind him of the lost love he had."

"Are you trying to get me killed?!?"

"Alicia it is the only other way besides us trying to destroy him."

"I can't do this."

"Yes you can. It would make sense for you to do this because of who you are. Now go. Go to him and come right back and tell me what happens."

I sighed and flew to Malfoy Manor.
