"Mum, mum. Relax, he might be somewhere. He's not a kid anymore, Mum. Relax", I said to make her feel better.
But all I did was make things go worse. Tears started to roll down her cheeks. I wanted to wipe the tears away but the feel of guilt had me standing there like an idiot.
"Oh, Mum.." I said softly and all I wanted to do is give her a hug.
"Look, I just don't want to lose him again, okay" she said, avoiding eye contact.
I nodded and I didn't realize that I was already in her arms. It made me feel warm, and loved.
It's evening, he's not in his room and he's not answering the call. He must be doing something really important.
Jack.
"That's it! Jack! Maybe he knows where Jonah's at", I told Mum,while putting my hand on her shoulder. I gave Jack a quick call and he answered within the first call. I have his number in my phone because Jonah had to give Jack a call when his (Jonah) phone battery was dying.
"Um, Jack?"
"I'll take that as a hello?" he said.
"Hey, Jack. Do you have any freaking idea on where Jonah is?" I said as I rested my hand on my waist. Mum watched me from far.
"Woah, woah. Chill, girl. Who are you and why are you angry?"
"Oh, right. It's me Jessica. Where's Jonah?" I said while rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes is just another habit that I can't even control.
"Oh, he's right here. He's with me", he said.
"Be accurate. Where are you guys?"
"At my house. At the garage" said Jack.
Without thinking twice, I quickly ran to Jack's house. At the garage, I saw Jack explaining something to Jonah.
The others were laughing over something.
I dashed towards Jonah and when I was close enough, I pulled his arm.
He looked confused and was frowning at me.
"Jonah! What are you doing here?!"
"Woah, woah. What's going on here, Jessica?!" he shouted.
The boys were all staring at us.
"Um, maybe we should leave..now?" said Corbyn.
"No,no. I didn't mean to torture you guys, but we'll be right back. Keep it up with what you were doing earlier", I said before pulling Jonah back to our house.
"Wait, listen. Probably it is not fully your fault. But you're still involved with this. Or maybe Mum was just a little sensitive", I said while walking.
"You mean like you? Very. Look at me, Imma cry baby. I cry over some stupid things. Waeh, waeh, waeh!" he said sarcastically.
I punched him in the arm.
"Stop it. The main topic now is Mum. Go, comfort her" I said as soon as we saw Mum sitting at the stairs of our porch.
I didn't follow him but I waited and watch them from far instead. I saw them talking. After talking, Mum's face was glowing. I like how a little talk between a son and a mother can produce such a beautiful smile.
Jonah gave Mum a hug before sending her in.
