Six human souls have been collected since the last time I had seen or heard from King Asgore. Queen Toriel moved out of the castle and to the Ruins because of the realization that a flower created by Dr. Alphys (the new Royal Scientist), named Flowey, is their son, Asriel. Dr. Alphys created Mettaton and many other projects she hasn't shown anyone yet. I was excited to meet her, but I still haven't. I hope she's nice like everyone else. Sans, Papyrus, and I had our own house together at the end of Snowdin. The door to my room is hidden within the middle of the walls. The results of the mishap with the reset were more brutal than I thought. Now that this reset was killed, there was no way that any of us could reset. It would be near impossible to even think of the possibility. In any case, the four scientists working with Dad before it all happened were still alive. The only way I would ever get to see them again is if I find out some way to get to their locations. I still worry about things. What if Sans and Papyrus die like Dad did? The thought terrifies me. It just can't happen.
Chara ended up going back to live with King Asgore, her father, again. She still visited me sometimes.
I sat in my room on my bed reading a popular book about the Surface with some music playing on my phone. I read a line that said that humans die as monsters do, and only those with powerful souls continue to live, even after millions of deaths. I've never been under attack by a real human before. The ones I fought were all demons and I realized that from the last battle. I've never actually seen the true power of a human. I read another line that said that humans have ways of making timelines jump from left to right, altering the functions of this world entirely. That felt a little scary to me. How was it possible? I began to wonder if it were possible for skeletons to do the same thing.
I read a few more pages of the book and went to return it to the library. I was always a big reader as a child. I still am to this day.
I walked outside to hear the laughter of a child. He ran past me with a popsicle in his mouth. He had no arms and wore a striped sweater.
"Gaby! Gaby! Gaby!" he yelled, running. "There's a human in the Ruins! They're actually a human!! I don't know her name yet, but Toriel called me with news about their arrival. She's supposed to be coming soon. After her last time seeing Toriel, she's supposed to be here! This is the first game I've ever been in! I'm so excited!"
"I am, too!" I said. "I hope she's not planning to cause any trouble!" I laughed. "I'll make sure Undyne keeps you safe, okay?"
"Yes ma'am! I'll be up ahead!!" The child ran off but tripped before he could get past. Finally, he ran off. A real human, I thought. I wonder what it's like to battle someone who can't die.
I walked towards Waterfall to Sans's first sentry-station. I went a little past it to see...a door. It was gray and silver. I walked up to it and it opened without me touching it. Inside was a small, empty space. I heard a small ring in the middle of the room as I was turned around to see Dad. He was a ghost. I looked at him with tears in my eyes. He smiled at me.
"Dad!" I yelled. "You're..."
"I know, Gabriola," he said. "I'm a ghost. I wish I were still alive." He looked down sadly. "There is a human here that has been killing everyone. She's killed every monster in the Ruins. Don't let her kill you either." He looked up at me and smiled. "I do have one thing that could change this." He grinned. "When I was creating your soul, when you were a child, I had made a human soul that I've kept inside of me. Now that I'm dead, I can finally give it to the one person I care about more than anything. Promise me that you will only use it in a life-or-death battle." He gave me a glass container that held a purple soul.
"I will," I said. "I promise..." A tear ran down my cheek. I wiped it with the back of my hand.
"Well, Gabriola," Dad said, "I'll be seeing you in another timeline." He used sign language to spell out his name and disappeared. I smiled and set down his lab coat that still smelled like bones from the battle. I teleported back to Snowdin.
