She was puzzled with the guy. They didn’t have much talk but she can’t deny that there is some sort of comfortable feeling that she felt with him. Napangiti na lang siya. She looked at his calling card. Dr. Kristian Dela Cruz Ph.D. She started to idolize him because being a doctor isn’t really a joke. Imagine studying for how many years and memorizing everything about the human body.

He began to smile like he achieved something. Of course, not thinking that Janine doesn’t remember him, masaya siya na ganito ang naging pakikitungo ng dalaga sa kanya. Unlike if she remembers him, pero hindi naman siya ituturing na ganun ng dalaga. Alam niyang likas na hospitable si Janine kahit noon pa, but he starts to feel special this time.

“O, how’s my son? What’s with the smile?”

“Wala, ma. I’m just happy today,”

            “Saan kayo nagpunta ni Denise?”

“Ow, isinama ko lang siya sa isang dental clinic to have her dental check up,”

“But there’s nothing wrong with Denise’s teeth,” nagtaka ang mama niya. “Are you and Janine back together? I haven’t heard from her since your break up,”

“No, we’re actually not back together, ma,”

“So aminin mo Kristian, you went to her clinic today?” she smiled like she was teasing him.

            “Ma! Stop that smile,”

She laughed. “I knew it son, you couldn’t resist her. Even I, I’m mesmerized with her. I liked her since day one. Kung pwede nga lang ipakasal ko na kayo agad nung pinakilala mo siya sa akin eh. Kaya nga hindi ko maintindihan sayo kung bakit hiniwalayan mo ang isang wife-material na katulad ni Janine,”

“I know, ma. She was perfect. I mean, I don’t think I’m good enough for her,”

“Have you explained it to her?”

            “No,”

“Well, anak, she should know. She should know why you left so she can start to move on with her life. I mean, hindi biro ang anim na taon na naging relationship niyong dalawa. I’ve seen the two of you grow together, nakita ko kung gaano ka kamahal ni Janine, and even your dad, he likes her for you. Pero syempre, it’s your decision if you don’t want her anymore. Basta kami ay gabay mo lang. Nanghinayang lang kami ng papa mo na, konti na lang sana, ikakasal na kayo. And until now we’re wondering why,”

“I really wanted her back, ma. I miss her so much. I was about to forget her totally, but when I see her after the accident –”

            “Accident?”

“Haven’t I told you? Naaksidente si Janine two weeks ago somewhere in EDSA. She was rushed to the hospital and I was the one who attended her,”

“Anong nangyari? Is she okay now?”

“She’s okay, except for the fact that she doesn’t remember me,” he sounded sad.
