A Grayson Selection (Young Justice- Chalant Fanfic)

Chapter One

I opened my eyes to see my one true love. Of course I didn't know his name but his looks were breathtaking nonetheless. He opened his mouth and said "Zatanna, wake up! Wake up!"

And I was rudely awakened from my dream with the yells of my father shouting "Wake up!" I managed to get out of bed and brush my teeth. Then I began to get ready. My mother recently became diagnosed with a rare disease. The doctors say it's curable but the treatment will cost thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, my family does not have the type of money needed for the treatment. Alas, my mother is still in the hospital and my father and I are going to visit her today.

As I walk down the stairs to the living room I see my dad making breakfast. He made pancakes and made extra to bring to the hospital for Mom. After leaving the house and arriving at the hospital we go to my mother's room.

"Hi, you must be Giovanni and Zatanna Zatara. I'm Dr. Lee Thompkins, Sindella's doctor."

My dad extended his hand forward and shook hands with the doctor. She explained the treatment and explained that there was a possible solution regarding the finances. She turned her attention towards me.

"Zatanna, as you might have heard, the Selection for Prince Richard is approaching. The royal family has already sent out applications to every female of age. I'm sure you've gotten one, haven't you?"

"Yes I have but I saw no interest in entering a competition of love."

"Perhaps you might be interested once you realize you could help your mother."

"How would that work?" my father asked.

"Well, all Zatanna has to do is win the Selection, since the future queen ultimately gets her husband's inheritance and that type of wealth can be used to pay your mother's medical bills."

"Zatanna will do no such thing!" exclaimed my father.

"I'll do it" I said. My dad gave me a tentative look. "It's alright Dad. If it'll help Mom, then I'll do it."

After that agreement, we went home and I began to fill out the application for the Selection. Hopefully I get chosen as the Bludhaven representative.
