A Grayson Selection (Young Justice- Chalant Fanfic)

Chapter Eight

The next couple weeks have been hectic. Another elimination hasn't taken place yet and all the girls have been getting stressed out. I had a few more dates with Dick and we have definitely gotten closer. But rumor is, the next elimination is about to take place tomorrow night.

Dick has gone on dates with every girl so far he mentioned to me at our last date, which meant he finally asked Artemis out on a date.

I couldn't sleep at all the night before the rumored elimination day. I decided to go back to the blue flowered garden. This place has become my sanctuary from everything happening. I laid down on the bench and took some deep breaths and began meditating.

Eventually I fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning I woke up in my own bed with no traces of how I got there. I asked one of my maids, Harley, what had happened. She explained that Prince Dick brought me back to my room after seeing me lying on the bench in the garden.

I'll be sure to thank him for this if I get the chance.

I decided to take a bath and then changed into a pair of shorts and a tshirt. As I slipped on my converse, a knock was heard at my door. I opened it up to see one of Dick's younger brothers, Damian, I think.

"Hi! Damian, right? What brings you here?"

"I just wanted to fight you!"

I nearly choked. "I'm sorry, what?"

"I. Want. To. Fight. You. Dick said you're good with acrobat moves. I want to spar with you. It's good practice for me."

I gave him a hesitant look.

"Please, pretty lady! Pleaseeee!!!"

I gave into his puppy dog eyes and ultimately agreed.

"Yay! Meet me at the gym after lunch."

He then left my room and I went down to the dining hall to eat breakfast. Artemis and Megan were nowhere in sight, in fact only two of the girls were at the dining hall at this time.

"Hi, I'm Zatanna. May I sit here please?"

"Oh please do! I'm Koriand'r but my friends back at Tamarin call me Starfire."

"I'm Rachel, but you can call me Raven."

"Thanks!"

The three of us began talking and it looks like these two have known Dick when they were younger too.

"Does that mean you two know Barbara too?"

Raven answered this one: "We actually never even heard of her until this competition. If she really did know Dick for ages, he must not like her enough because he's never mentioned her to us."

"Hmm, something's off about her. But maybe that's just me being petty."

"No, I think you're right. I think she's just jealous of you Zatanna."

"I wouldn't understand why, but I guess so. Anyways I have to go, but it was really nice meeting you guys. I hope we can be friends from now on."

"Of course. Bye Zatanna!"

I walked back to my room and began writing another letter to my parents.

Middway through my letter an announcement was overheard through the speakers.

"Hello everyone, this is Prince Dick speaking. This announcement is to inform all the representatives that an elimination will take place tonight, so please dress accordingly and meet at the stage after dinner. That is all, thank you."

I naturally began getting stressed out. I finished up my letter and went to the gym to spar with Damian.

Once I finished, I went to my room to shower and change. I then went out to the dining hall for dinner. As expected all the girls were stressing out about being eliminated except for a particular redhead, Barbara. It seems as if she thinks she really will stay in this competition.

After dinner, everyone went to the stage and Prince Dick was already there.

"Hello everyone! We'll begin the elimination process shortly but first there's someone I would like you to meet."

He gestured to a familiar ginger green eyed boy, Wally.

"This is Wally, who really is my best friend. We conducted a test and had Wally talk to all of you girls and he specifically mentioned that you could not tell anyone you saw him. If you did not mention him to me when I asked then you are safe. Anyone who trusts my best friend is someone I can trust. So those who are safe are: Miss Artemis Crock, Miss Megan Morse, Miss Barbara Gordon, Miss Raquel Ervin, Miss Koriand'r, Miss Rachel Roth, and Miss Zatanna Zatara. Thank you to everyone else for participating in my Selection, please pack your bags and make your way towards the cars outside. Thank you once again."

I was safe for another day. But little did I know that the Selection would get even more crazy.
