Gru sat in one of the hard plastic seats located at the gate where Lucy was supposed to be arriving any minute.  Since their marriage, this was the first mission that one of them had gone on without the other.  Although he knew that his wife could handle herself, he was still a little worried.  If something went wrong, he would be hundreds of miles away, unable to help her.  However, the mission seemed to have gone smoothly, and Lucy had called him the night before, telling him that she was to be boarding a plane home that morning.

Gru looked at his watch.  It was 3:30 now, and the plane wasn't here.  He tried to relax.  He tried to remember that it was completely normal for the touchdown to be a little later than predicted.

He looked out the window at the runway.  Still no plane.  What if it had crashed?  Vivid images started running through Gru's mind.  He tried to push that away.

He started looking around at the airport.  There were lots of shops and restaurants.  One store near the gate he was in sold t-shirts.  He noticed a particular one that was the exact color turquoise that Lucy looked particularly lovely in.

Dang it!  Where was she?  He was starting to get really worried now.  He checked his watch again.  3:35.  Now the plane was actually late.  What if something serious happened?  He checked his phone for any messages from her.  Of course, there weren't any, because she was flying, and her phone was on airplane mode, but he checked anyways.

He got up and started to pace.  He wished that his girls were here to distract him, but he had dropped them off at a friend's house before coming here.  He wanted to take Lucy out on a date when she arrived.

He looked out the window again.  Aha!  There was a plane touching down!  He breathed a big sigh of relief.  He watched as it pulled into the gate.

A couple minutes passed as he watched the other passengers exit the aircraft and meet up with their loved ones.  He strained his neck, looking for her.

The line of people was getting more and more sparse.  He started to worry again.  Her plane was here, but where was she?  Did something happen?

Then, he saw her brilliant red hair, behind a family dragging two unhappy children.  Relief washed over him again.  She was alright.

She started walking over to the seats to wait, and then she saw him.  She dropped her purse on her suitcase and ran right up to him.

Lucy threw her arms around him.

"I've missed you so much!" She exclaimed.

He held her tight for a little longer than normal.  Then he kissed her full on the lips.

"I've missed you, too." He replied.

This is my first fanfic ever, so feel free to leave some feedback!  It would be much appreciated.
