*Beep beep beep beep beep*
I groaned rolling over to my side to turn off my annoying alarm. I looked at the time. 5:30am. I groaned more grabbing a pillow to place over my face. It was the first day of summer and I had to get up this early. Normally I would sleep in until at least 11am. But I was flying out to North Carolina at 9am to stay with my aunt and cousins for the summer. At the thought of that, I quickly got out of bed and headed to take a shower to wake myself up.
Yesterday was the last day of my sophomore year of high school. It was a difficult year for me. My friends started to turn against me. Everyone started to hate me. And it was all because of one stupid mistake that still bothers me to this day. The worst part about it was that it wasn't really all that bad of a mistake. But everyone still took his side. Even though he had done much much worse to me. The thought about how crappy my life had been this last year made me start tearing up. But I quickly wiped my tears away and finished my shower.
I got out of the shower and went to my closet to find something to wear for the long flight. But then I realized that most of my stuff was packed already. And then I remembered that I had already picked out something to wear the night before. I looked over at my desk chair and saw my clothes laying there. I quickly threw on my undergarments and a pair of capri leggings and a tank top. I decided to French braid my long brown hair and put no make up on.
I grabbed a light sweater just in case I got chilly. Throwing on a pair of flip flops I grabbed my backpack with all of my daily necessities and my electronics for the plane. I also had packed some snacks in it. I headed downstairs to where my bags were already waiting to be put into the car and heard my parents moving around in the kitchen.
"Brynn is that you? You're running short on time! You need to be at the airport at 7 and it takes at least 15 minutes to get there!" I heard my mom yell from the kitchen. I checked my phone and saw that it was already 6:30am.
I walked into the kitchen and saw a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast and a glass of orange juice waiting for me. "Brynnlee, please eat quickly I don't want to get stuck in traffic on the way to the airport," my dad said while reading something on his iPad and sipping his coffee.
I started eating my breakfast as fast as I could. I was a slow eater. When I say slow, I mean really slow. By the time others would finish their plate of seconds, I would barely be finishing my first plate.
I was about half way through with my breakfast when my dad spoke up again, "Brynn, sweetie, I'm going to go put your bags in the car. Please finish up quickly." He left the kitchen and headed for the door.
"Brynn, your father is stressing out over some big work decisions and he doesn't want to be late for work, please don't keep him waiting," my mother said while cleaning up.
I took the last few bites of my breakfast, chugged down the rest of my juice, and then grabbed my toothbrush that I had placed inside of my backpack. I rushed to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I went back to the kitchen to see my dad give my mom a kiss goodbye. I walked up to my mom so I could hug her goodbye as well. "Bye mom, I'll see you at the end of summer. I'll miss you," I said while hugging her.
"I'll miss you too my love. I love you," she kissed the top of my head. I smiled and said I loved her back and I followed my dad out of the front door.
I got into the car, as well as my dad, and we waved goodbye to my mom who was standing at the front door.
My dad was on a business call the whole ride to the airport. So I just scrolled through all of my social media apps. There wasn't much of anything new since it was so early in the morning.
We finally arrived at the airport. I looked at the time. 7 o'clock on the dot. My dad left the car running and got out to get my bags out. He also waved over a worker he saw to ask him to bring me a cart to push all of my luggage on. I had 4 luggages. 2 big ones just for clothes, 1 big one just for shoes, and a smaller one just for my accessories and makeup along with some hair products I need including a straightener and curling wand.
After all of my luggages were loaded onto the cart, my dad wrapped me up in a big bear hug and kissed me on the head, "I'll miss you sweetheart, have a safe flight, and call us every time you land."
As he got into the car, he rolled down the window and yelled out, "I love you Brynn!" I said it back and waved goodbye to him as he left. Once he was no longer in sight, I pushed my cart of luggages into the airport to check in my bags and receive my tickets and I headed up to the security checkpoint.
If you for one second thought that flying early in the morning would be less crowded, you are mistakingly wrong. The lines for security are so long, I would probably have to be waiting for a good 30 minutes before I even got to the front of the line. But thankfully, and surprisingly, I had TSA Pre-Check, so I got to bypass the long line and go to a shorter line that was moving rather quickly.
Once through security, I located my gate and went in search of a Starbucks. I ordered myself an iced peach green tea lemonade. I have a slight addiction to it. I also got some water for the flights. I sat in my gate waiting area and waited for my flight to come.
