I don't know what time I actually fell asleep at, but I was woken up super early by the sun because I stupidly left the curtains on the balcony doors opened. I got up and shut the curtains and I quickly fell back asleep.
A few hours later around 8am there was a knock on the bedroom door. I didn't want to answer it so I just stayed laying down hoping that whomever was knocking would realize I was still asleep and leave me alone. But those hopes were crushed when my door was opened and Harmony and Sparrow started jumping on me.
"Wake up, Brynn, wake up!" They both shouted at me.
I groaned pulling a pillow on top of my face, "Ugh, what do you want? Let me sleep!"
"Luke is here!" Sparrow said excitedly.
I shot up out of bed, "WHAT?!"
They both giggled. Giggled! "Yeah, he's downstairs waiting for you," Harmony said giddily.
"Waiting for me? Why would he be waiting for me? You sure he didn't say he was waiting for Ryder?"
They nodded their heads smiling creepily. "Get dressed! You better look cute for your first date!" Sparrow said cheerfully. And with that they skipped out of the room. Literally skipped.
Wait did she say date?! "It's not a date Sparrow!" I'm pretty sure she didn't hear me though.
I threw my covers off and headed to the closet where I hung most of my clothes when I arrived. I pulled out a cute floral tank top. It was loose and was longer in the back. I then went to pull a pair of white shorts from the dresser and some clean undergarments. I quickly changed and headed into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
I looked at my hair and saw that it was still decent looking in the braid that I had slept in last night so I decided to keep it like that. I then proceeded to put my makeup on. I didn't normally wear a lot of makeup, so I just curled my eyelashes and put on some mascara and eyeliner on my waterline.
I grabbed a cute pair of sandals from the closet. I looked myself over in the full length mirror, approved of how I looked, then grabbed my phone and headed downstairs.
Low and behold, there was Luke sitting at the breakfast bar at the counter in the kitchen. My family was just chatting away with him. They were all smiling and laughing.
My aunt was the first one to notice me, "Oh good morning Brynnlee! Sorry no breakfast here for you, Lucas said he was going to take you out to breakfast and then show you around town," she said smiling.
Luke turned towards me and smiled, "I hope that's okay with you?"
My aunt and cousins were nodding excitedly behind him. They reminded me of an old bobble head toy that I had. Then I remembered that it broke and the head fell off. So I decided to prevent that from happening to them and I agreed, "Yeah sure, let me just go grab my purse from my room."
Luke and I headed out the front door. He led me to his car, which was a really nice jeep, one that I loved. It had a top that was able to open up so you could let the wind blow through your hair.
The first few minutes of the ride was silent, so I decided to speak up and break the silence, "So what made you decide to take me to breakfast?"
"Well, no one wants to explore on an empty stomach," he turned and smiled at me. God that smile. I felt like ripping it off because it was too damn perfect.
I shook that gruesome thought out of my mind, "Ha ha, very funny. Let me reword myself. What made you decide to show me around town? Please don't tell me my aunt put you up to it? Because if she did you can totally opt out."
There was a little pause. "Yeah, she asked me to do it...Stella Weston can be very persuading," he chuckled."
"Seriously?! Oh my god, take me back! I feel terrible! I'm going to kill my aunt," I exclaimed mortified while trying to take my seatbelt off.
"Relax Brynn, I was just joking! She didn't ask me. I promise you. I asked Ryder if any of them had showed you around yesterday and he said not really, so I thought it would be a good idea to show you around myself. Show you the places that people our age go to and what we do around here, so please don't throw yourself out of the moving vehicle," he clarified with a smile and chuckled. This time his smile made me relax a little bit in relief.
"Okay, I believe you," I sighed leaning into the seat smiling slightly.
"I'm taking you to the best places in town. Some spots might seem a little weird and unusual at first, but I hope you trust me," he said looking over at me.
Trust. Now that was something that didn't come easily with me. I blame that on Him from back home. What He did to me was terrible and trusting anyone after that was the hardest thing. Trust was something that I wanted to be able to give, but I couldn't find myself to do it.
"Trust is a very strong word. It's not something you'll find you'll get easily from me," I stated while looking out of the window besides me.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see him glance at me curiously, "It's just an expression that people use all of the time."
I was getting a little irritated. "Trust isn't just an expression to me. If you want my trust, you have to really work hard for it and prove you deserve it. My trust isn't something to just give easily."
"Wow. Something must have happened to you that caused you to lose trust in everyone. Did someone do something specifically to you?"
"That's not something I like to talk about with others, especially someone who doesn't have my trust."
Luke was quiet for a little while. He finally spoke up after a few minutes, "Well, it is now my goal to earn your trust by the end of this summer. I'm determined. And when I am determined to achieve something, I always succeed," he said while pulling into a parking lot of a cute little breakfast place called "Sally's." Luke then turned to me and said "I hope you like pancakes and waffles," with his amazing smile, showing me his pearly whites, while shutting off the car.
We went inside and we were greeted by the hostess, "Good morning, welcome to Sally's, how many people in your party?"
"Two," Luke replied kindly.
"Alrighty, now would you two like to sit at the counter or at a table?"
Luke turned to me as if asking me what I preferred. I took that as a hint to answer, "A table please," I smiled.
The hostess then lead us to a small table booth that was placed up against a window that had a pretty view of a park and handed us the menu.
