Summer Flings Are Just Little Things, Right?

Chapter 2

My flight left around 9am California time. About 6 hours later, I was getting off of the plane in North Carolina. With the time difference it was now 6pm, but I was on California time still so for me it was 3pm. I hoped that my jet lag wouldn't be too bad.

I headed down to baggage claim and waited for my luggages. While I waited for the bags to start coming out, I pulled out my phone to check if my Aunt was here yet. I saw that I had a message from her saying they had left about 20 minutes ago, which meant they would be here soon to pick me up.

Once I got my luggage, I pushed them all out on a cart and waited for my aunt to pull up. I only had to wait about 2 minutes before I saw her pull up with a big smile. As soon as she put her car in park, the doors flew open and out ran my 3 cousins, Ryder who is 14, Harmony who is 11, and Sparrow who is 8. They all charged at me and gave me huge hugs.

Then I saw my aunt Stella and I gave her a huge hug, "Hi Aunt Sella! I missed you! Thanks for letting me come stay with you this summer!"

"Brynnlee Elle! You know you can come stay with me whenever! You're always welcomed! You are of course my favorite niece," she said playing hitting my shoulder.

"Aunt Stella, I'm your only niece," I raised an eyebrow at her. She opened her mouth to give me a comeback, but then she closed it. "Oh shush! No need to get technical. Now let's load your stuff up and go get cleaned up so we can take you out for dinner." And with that she was already taking a luggage and throwing it in the back of her car.

I let Ryder sit in the passenger seat so I sat in the back in between the girls. The whole ride to my Aunts house, the girls talked about random things. My Aunt would randomly say something that she had planned for us to do while I was there. Ryder was just on his phone the whole time so I decided to acknowledge him. "Hey Ryder, so you're going to be a freshman now right? Are you excited about starting high school?"

"Yeah I'm gonna be a freshman. At first I wasn't all that excited, but now I am pretty excited. I made the JV football team! Our first practice starts next week," he turned around and told me excitedly.

"Wow congrats! I'm proud of you! You're going to do awesome!"

"Thanks! I really hope so. I've been getting some help and tips from Luke, which is awesome, he is like the most popular guy at the high school and he has been playing football since he was about 4 years old. And now since I just started playing football, he has practically become my mentor."

"Awh that's super cool! But, uhm, who is Luke?" I questioned him curiously.

My Aunt Stella spoke up before Ryder could though, "Oh! Lucas is our next door neighbor! He is super cute! Oh my goodness, you two would make such a cute couple!" My Aunt practically started fangirling on me. By this time, we had pulled up to her house.

"Speaking of Luke, there he is right now playing some catch with some of his football friends. I'm going to go say hi and see if I can join in," Ryder said as he dashed out of the car.

Us girls got out of the car and went to go unload all of my luggages. My Aunt went to go unlock her front door, and my bags were too heavy for Harmony and Sparrow to get out, and since Ryder completely just ditched us, I was basically stuck unloading until my Aunt came to help me.

As I was pulling out my first bag, another hand appeared and picked it up with ease, "Here let me help you with that."

"Oh thanks!" I said and looked up to see who had offered their assistance to me. Once I saw him, my eyes went extremely wide. And I'm pretty sure that he noticed. He was absolutely gorgeous! He had short floppy brown hair, and amazing blue eyes that made my boring brown eyes look like dirt. He was tall, well over 6 foot which made him tower over me since I was only about 5'2. I could see that he was very fit and muscular. He had amazing facial structure as well. I wondered if he modeled, because he was way beyond model status. He was definitely a Greek God.

I shook my head to get back to reality. Once he got all of my bags out, I thanked him, "Thank you so much! I'm Brynnlee by the way," I stuck out my hand for him to shake.

"I'm Lucas, or you can just call me Luke. It's nice to meet you Brynnlee," he shook my hand. As soon as our skin touched I felt this instant heat sensation.

"You can call me Brynn," I slightly blushed. He smiled at that. Oh my god his smile! He had to have had one of the best smiles I have ever seen, even better than Zac Efron's! He even had dimples. Dimples! Are you kidding me?! It should be physically impossible for someone to look this damn good.

"Are you staying here with the Weston's?"

"Yeah, I'm their niece, I'm staying here all summer actually," I replied.

"Oh okay! Where are you from? And honestly I feel weird asking peoples' ages, but you look a lot younger than I feel you are, so uhm...how old are you?" he asked seeming a little uncomfortable.

I chuckled at him, "I'm from California and yeah I know I look younger and I'm positive my height has to do with it as well, but I just turned 16. So I'll be starting my junior year after this summer."

"Oh wow! Okay that makes me feel a lot better. Well I'm exactly the same! 16 and going to be a junior," he said. "So is this the ---" he was cut off by his friends yelling at him, "Yo, hurry up and stop flirting!" That made me blush.

"I think your friends are getting impatient over there, you better go. It was nice talking to you. Maybe I'll see you around this summer," I said sheepishly while starting to roll my luggages out from behind the car.

"I hope we do see each other around this summer," he said with a million dollar smile. And with that he jogged back over to his lawn.

As I turned around and started to walk towards the house, I saw my Aunt Stella with Harmony and Sparrow giggling at me from the doorway giving me the looks of 'See, I told you he was cute.' I just laughed and headed inside.
