"Honey? Please hurry! I don't think you'll want to be late for your first day!" My mom said as she speed walked into my room in her signature outfit: A pantsuit with a golden floral broach hooked to the left side of her jacket.

"Mom, Please! I really, really don't want to go! I'm so incredibly tired of being the new girl." I said.

"Katherine Louis Hester! You're just going to have to deal with it! Now bring your butt downstairs within five minutes, and be ready to go!" My mom said as she stormed out of my bedroom.

After I get dressed I walk over to my white vanity in my room. I put on my signature MAC Red Lipstick. I study my short red curly hair. I glance at my red clock, I realize I have to go. I run downstairs, pick up a granola bar, and follow my mom to our teal mini van.

We sit in silence for the first half of the car ride. I can tell out of the corner of my eye that my mom is wondering why exactly I turned out so differently from the rest of the family. You see, my mom is a door-to-door saleswoman. She works for some company that sells skin moisturizes or whatever. She feels as if she knows what's completely best for me. Oh and my dad... We don't exactly see eye to eye on everything. He's in the military, therefore he's all rule oriented. Which yet again, is why we just had to move to Lima, Ohio.

"Katherine? Helloooo?" My mom said. "Oh um, sorry. Yeah?" "I just wanted to ask you how you're feeling about starting at McKinley High School today?" My mom asked.

"Oh mom, I'm doing just fantastic! One day you guys just said that we were moving to Lima freaking Ohio! Oh yeah, you guys also made me leave my friends, my girlfriend, and my school... So yeah I'm doing fucking fantastic!" I raged.

"First of all, don't talk to me like that! Secondly, I think your dad and I have been pretty clear about how we don't want you talking about your supposed "girlfriend"! You were just confused honey. And also, I've read some very interesting things about McKinley. The curriculum focuses mainly on the arts. But it still has core classes as well. And I know how much you like singing! I see you writing songs in that notebook of yours all the time!" My Mom said.

"For the last time mom, She wasn't my "girlfriend", she was my actual girlfriend. And we were together for six months! Maybe if you're dating someone for six months, you're not just "confused"! I yelled.

"Katherine, I don't want to get into this with you." My mom said as we started to slow down in front of McKinley High.

"Whatever..." I muttered.

"I hope you have fun today." My mom said as the car came to a full stop.

"Yeah thanks." I said as I unbuckled my seat belt.

"You know what to do when you get in right? Go to the main office and tell them that your name is Katherine Hester and you're a new student and that you'd like your schedule." My mom said.

"Will do." I said.

"Bye honey! Hope you have a good day. Love you!" My mom said loudly.

"Bye. Love you too." I said glumly as I shut the car door, still upset about our previous conversation about my girlfriend, Maya.
