Jacob was in the kitchen making lunch for Saint when he gets home from kindergarten. After moving from Lawrence to Leavenworth they were able to find a house right near the elementary school. It was a tough decision to allow Saint to walk home alone but since Jacob is on bed rest and Axton has to work they settled for the neighbor picking up Saint along with their children. Jacob heard the door knob jiggle and his eldest son walked through the door. The first thing Jacob noticed was a not taped on Saint's chest.
"What'd you do?" Jacob asked making the five-year-old huff
"Nothing!" He exclaimed throwing his backpack by the door and climbing the barstool to watch his mother.
Jacob took the note from his shirt and read over it. It made him laugh. He was being criticized for allowing Saint to lie so much. Apparently, Saint found it very cool that his dad was pregnant and is going around telling everyone in the class which is causing confusion among the other students. He balled up the note and threw it away. He's most shocked at the fact that Saint knows that he's a father since he usually refers to him as his mother. He blames Jaceson for this who taught Saint to call Jacob that when he was younger. He gave Saint his chicken nuggets and took some for himself.
"When's show and tell again?" Jacob asked
"Thursday. Miss Maudie says the person with the best thing will get a prize," Saint says with a bright smile but Jacob frowned at it.
He didn't like that she was fostering competition at such a young age. This'll just make the kids want to bring in something to win instead of something they actually find cool or generally enjoy. He knew he didn't like her when they met her and it was a gut feeling instead of the fact that she tried to flirt with Axton. When they finished lunch Jacob played with Saint to the best of his ability. By the time Axton got home Saint was tired and just wanted dinner, however, Axton wanted to bond. This didn't go over well causing the little boy to shout at Axton.
"Stop Dad!" Saint exclaimed from his place on the couch causing Jacob to look up to see the encounter. "Geez! This is why Mama always screams at you to stop at night!"
Axton choked on his soul, which had been leaving his body, while Jacob laughed aloud ready to explain to Saint the real reason but Axton quickly stopped him. They ate dinner together before watching a movie on the couch. It was PG but Axton found too many dirty jokes for comfort. They helped put Saint to bed before going to their own room. Jacob sat on the bed watching Axton undress and figured it was as good a time as any to tell Axton what the teacher said to Saint.
"I hate that Miss Maudie," Jacob started off making Axton snort
"You're just jealous she finds me hot," Axton smirked flicking his tongue at Jacob
"She taped a note on Saint telling us some shit about even though we're young we shouldn't raise our kids to be liars. That I need to stop telling Saint I gave birth to him and to admit he was adopted," Jacob vented rubbing his abnormally large bump. "You know she wrote that by doing this I'm leaving a bad rep for all the good parents out there in our same situation."
"Really?" Axton inquired angered at the teacher's rude behavior
"No but I read between the lines," Jacob admitted causing Axton to sigh
"What did she really say?" Axton asked
"She wants a parent-teacher conference to discuss his habitual lying and his home life," Jacob admitted begrudgingly. "I can't help it I'm a mom. I take offense when people even suggest the idea of me being a bad parent."
Axton laughed at the cutie that is Jacob Singer-Ohara. He went over to him and gave him a kiss on his forehead to relieve his stress. Jacob huffed but allowed Axton to speak his peace on the situation. Though he already knows he won't like what Axton will say.
"How about this?" Axton began. "We go to show and tell day but we schedule the conference after that day so that way she'll already know what's up?"
"That's not actually a bad idea. We'll put that bitch in her place before we even say words," Jacob thought aloud making Axton shake his head begrudgingly.
When the day came Saint was very excited to show off Jacob's drone. It wasn't his but he knew for sure he'd win first place with it. Something Jacob had been scared of. When they pulled up in front of the school Saint had already gotten out of his booster seat and was waiting for Axton to open his door for him. Other parents were there as well wanting to take a few pictures before heading in. It must be nice. Because Jacob is so big only in his second trimester he has to have help doing a lot of things. This includes getting out of the car. Axton helped him out garnering a lot of attention from the other parents. Despite being heavily pregnant Jacob still helped Saint out of the car and carried him to the front entrance. Another family which had been entering the building kept the door open for them. Jacob kept it at a nod not wanting to say anything to spark a conversation because that's how people in Kansas are but Axton just had to go and say thank you.
"You're welcome, son," The man said. "You two look a little young."
"I had Saint when I was seventeen," Jacob said letting Saint down.
"You're a transgender or?" The woman asked
"No I was born a male," Jacob sighed rubbing his stomach
"So he must be the one telling Lily that his daddy is pregnant," The woman ascertained upon following the movement of Jacob's hand on his belly. "You're ready to pop aren't you?"
"He's only in the second trimester. I think it's twins but Jake refuses to ask the doctor because of a bet with his mom," Axton explained on their way to the class.
Axton took a few pictures before they walked into the class. When they got inside a lot of the parents were already there which meant the limited number of seats available for the parent use were already taken. Jacob had decided not to make a big deal out of it but Axton was already asking another parent for his seat. Jacob took it though. Some parents were just as confused as someone who saw a pregnant man might be. Others didn't care and focus a hundred percent of their attention on their own children. The teacher began to teach her class as she usually would allowing the parents to see how their kids react in the environment. An hour before class was over show and tell began. A lot of kids brought things they probably never even touched in their life only seeking to win the prize. When it was Saint's turn he proudly presented Jacob's drone telling stories that were meant only for the two of them like when Jacob tried to see if it was strong enough to fly Saint away, it wasn't. By the look on Axton's face, Jacob knew he'd be scolded when they were alone.
The day ended with the promise of the winner being announced tomorrow. Saint ran up to his mother with excitement feeling as though he would win like the other five-year-olds in the class. Jacob picked him up with a grunt causing Saint to laugh at the noise. Jacob went over to Miss Maudie and cleared his throat catching her attention. Her eyes immediately went to his belly but she tried to make it seem as if it didn't.
"I can't wait for the conference Rachel," Jacob spat insincerely. "Hopefully Saint won't tell any more lies before then am I right?"
"Jake," Axton warned in a firm voice.
"It seems as though there is no real need for the conference anymore is there?" Maudie asked raising an eyebrow.
"No there is," Axton said quickly. "I don't appreciate you backseat parenting my kid. Even if Saint was adopted it's not your place to tell him. We'll talk more about this Monday."
Axton wrapped an arm around Jacob's shoulder and they walked out of the school together. Saint was let down and ran around with the drone making plane noises. When they reached the car Jacob strapped Saint in and they all agreed to go out for lunch. Jacob gave his fiancee a glance before holding his hand for the ride.
"What?" Axton asked questioning Jacob's lovey-dovey behavior.
"You're hot when you're upset."
