Kits grow very quickly. In six moons, they are able to become apprenticed to warriors (or a medicine cat) and learn how to defend and contribute to their Clan. Below will showcase the stages of kithood.

First Week
On the first day, kits are born defenceless. They are blind, deaf, and they cannot regulate their own body temperature. Newborn kits cannot walk, eat solid food or urinate and defecate on their own.
In around five to seven days, they are usually a third of their body weight heavier than their birth weight. Their ears are starting to open; however, they still need to feel and use vibrations to find their way around.
Their sense of smell is active and their eyes may open. Kits have blue eyes when they are first opened; however, in most cases they do not stay blue.
Second Week
When kits are 10 to 14 days old, their weight has increased dramatically - and so has their strength. They are starting to hear noises, but generally will not recognise noises for a couple more weeks.
All kits should have their eyes open at this point and their eye colour will start changing to their adult colour.
The kits will start trying to walk at this age, but are generally very wobbly and will fall down a lot.
Third Week
Once kits reach 20 to 22 days old, their ears are erect and their baby teeth will start to grow. The kits will also start to purr.
Once kits reach 24 to 26 days old, they should be walking; however, they may still be a little wobbly on their feet. They will start climbing over small obstacles and may even try mischievous acts.
Fourth Week/One Moon
When kits are a moon old, their mother is starting to wean them off her milk and they will start eating soft fresh-kill.
The kits are able to regulate their own temperatures, walk without falling down, and have bladder and bowel control.
Fifth to Sixth Week
The kits become very playful and will start running around getting into mischief. Kits at this age will have their adult eye colour.
Seventh to Ninth Week/Two Moons
Kits start running, climbing and getting into pretty well everything. They are settling in their home.
Tenth Week to Six Moons
From 10 weeks to six moons old, kits gain about a pound a month and their adult teeth come in. Kits start to get more independent during this time. This is when they start to learn how to work out problems on their own and develop their own personality.
At six moons old, the kits are ready to be apprenticed to warriors or medicine cats!
