Chapter 6: Meeting Nicole, Daniel and Harry

Chapter 6: Meeting Nicole, Daniel and Harry

Ivy’s POV

The next day, Remus and I decided to take Daniel, Harry and Nicole out of school so that I could see them properly.

“Wait with Rhiannon and Stephen while we go and get Daniel, Nicole and Harry and we’ll all go out when we get back.” I told the twins.

Leo grumbled but nodded.

“See you soon!” I called as I disapparated.

Remus knocks on the door of Dumbledore’s office.

“Come in.” Comes the voice from inside.

Remus walks in and I follow, suddenly very self-conscious.

Dumbledore clearly wasn’t expecting to see me either as he almost falls out of his chair.

“Is that you Ivy?” He questions.

I nod and smile. “It’s been a while Professor.”

Dumbledore smiles. “I’ll hear the story later but for now, I’ll go and fetch Daniel, Nicole and Harry for you.”

I smile.

Sometimes I’m sure that man can read minds.

We follow him down the corridor to the dungeons to fetch Daniel from his potions class.

Dumbledore knocks on the door twice and everyone in the class including Snape turn around to see who is by the door.

Dumbledore walks in and Remus and I follow.

Snape’s eyes nearly pop out of his head when he sees me.

I smile, making an effort to seem friendly.

Even if we aren’t friends anymore, we once were and we shouldn’t forget the past.

“Mr Lupin. Professor Dumbledore. Wonderful to see you both.” Snape says curtly.

He then turns to me. “Wonderful to see you too Mrs Lupin.”

Out of the corner of my eye, I see all the children in the class turn to look at Daniel and instantly I feel bad.

“I was wondering if we could take Daniel out of this class Professor Snape.” Dumbledore says.

Snape nods.

Daniel stands up and begins to pack up his bag.

“Thank you Professor.” I say as we leave the class.

He nods at me and I swear I can see a smile hinting around his lips.

“Now we’ll go and fetch Nicole and Harry and then you are free to go Mr and Mrs Lupin.” Dumbledore says.

I nod and smile.

Next we stop outside the transfiguration classroom and my heart goes into overdrive.

Harry and Nicole had to have transfiguration. Out of every single class in Hogwarts they had to have transfiguration.

Dumbledore knocks on the door and briskly walks inside. Remus and Daniel follow but I stand in the doorway. I’m not ready to face Minerva yet.

“Professor McGonagall.” Dumbledore greets.

Professor McGonagall looks up.

“How can I help you Professor Dumbledore?” Minerva asks.

“I was wondering if you could excuse Harry Potter and Nicole Lupin from your lesson as there is someone rather important they need to see.” Dumbledore says.

Professor McGonagall nods. “Of course they may be excused. But who on earth do they need to see?”

Dumbledore whispers something in my ear and Minerva’s eyes widen.

“It’s impossible!” Minerva protests.

“She’s by the door Professor.” Dumbledore says.

Minerva walks around the class and comes to the door where I stand, shaking.

“Ivy?!” She questions.

“Good to see you Professor.” I say, silently hoping she doesn’t ask how I got here.

Thank goodness she doesn’t.

“I can see why Miss Lupin and Mr Potter are needed.” Minerva says.

I smile gratefully. “Thank you Professor.”

She smiles. “See you soon.”

I nod and we all disapparate.

Outside the house Daniel stops walking and says,

“Is it just me who wants to know who that is?”

Nicole and Harry shake their heads.

“We’ll explain everything inside.” Remus says.

The three of them nod and walk inside.

I sigh. This may be harder than I think.

“So is anyone going to explain to us why we left school?!” Daniel demands.

“So you could meet your mother.” Rhiannon says.

“My mother is dead and she has been for ten years!” Daniel shouts.

He might be the one to watch.

“She was dead. Now she’s alive!” Leo protests.

“Shut up Leo! That’s a lie and we all know it.” Daniel protests.

“Don’t talk to him like that!” Remus says sternly. “Especially when he’s right.”

“He’s not right!” Daniel shouts and he storms upstairs, slamming the door after him.

“I’ll talk to him later.” I tell no one in particular.

“So do you two believe us?” I ask Harry and Nicole.

Nicole looks back and forth between me and the picture of me on the wall.

It’s a picture of Remus, James, Lily and I on the day of our graduation and although I am older now, I still look the same.

“I believe you.” Nicole says and she throws her arms around my neck and begins crying.

I smile and hug her back, letting my own tears fall into her hair.

“I believe you too.” Harry says.

And even though I know he’s happy, I know he’s wishing I was Lily right now.

And that’s not what hurts me. What hurts me the most, is that I know no matter how hard I try, I’ll never be able to bring Lily back.
