I looked around curiously and gawked at the sight in front of me. I was finally in Seoul! The airport scenery was so similar to how it was before I left. I scanned through all the people, looking to find Samuel, but I didn't see him anywhere. I took a look at my phone. It was already 1:30. He should be here by now.
I sighed and sat down on the nearest chair I could find and rested my head on my suitcase. I began to doubt the fact that Samuel was going to show up. After all, it was really late plus he probably had a schedule today. Besides, if I were in his place, I wouldn't want to see me anyway.
Just as I was about to fall asleep I felt someone tap my shoulder. I immediately jolted awake to see who poked me.
Hoping to see Samuel, I was let down when I saw the face of a complete stranger who appeared to be about two years older than me.
"Miss, is this yours?" he held up a charger cord.
I blinked a few times waiting for my vision to clear up a bit.
I nodded my head sleepily, "Ne. Kamsahamnida."
He looked at me with a shy smile, "Mianhae, I didn't mean to wake you up."
"Gwaenchana," I responded.
"Have a nice day, Miss."
"You too."
And then I was back by myself.
People walked back and fourth, some running up to each other and hugging, some walking briskly through the halls, some standing in place. Surprisingly, there was a lot of people at the airport for 1:00.
One person in particular was pacing back and forth and was turning his head in every direction. He was wearing white ripped jeans and a black hoodie. He also had on a black face mask. He must be looking for someone.
The stranger walked over in my direction and set his gaze on me. I stared at him for a while before I realized that was no stranger.
"Samuel?" I whispered.
"Evelyn?"
I immediately got up from my seat and sprinted over to him. He sprinted over to me as well and we ended up crashing into each other.
I laughed and wrapped my arms around him. He returned the gesture and squeezed me tight.
"I missed you!" he cried.
"I'm so sorry Sammy," I said, burying my face is his shoulder.
"I should've stayed behind or at least I should've told you I was leaving," I rambled.
"I should've-"
"It's okay," he whispered.
I pulled away from him and smiled brightly. I missed him so much. I couldn't believe I was standing in front of him right now.
"Are you tired?" I asked.
He shook his head, "I was, but then I saw you. Now I'm hyped."
I laughed a bit and linked arms with him, pulling him with me. "Do I get a tour of the city then?"
He nodded eagerly. "Yep, nothing's open right now, but I'll find something cool."
We headed towards the airport exit and found ourselves standing under the stars in the cityscape of Seoul. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time. Finally, I was back home. Finally, I was back with my best friend.
