Lani POV
I woke up to the sound of my mom and dad fighting again. It's only a matter of time before he hits her.
"Why the fuck you still in bed?! Get the fuck up!" My mother yelled pushing me into the bathroom. "Don't fucking talk to her like that!" My father yelled at her pushing her into the bathroom door.
I took my daily shower zoning out all the yelling. I wish someone would tell me that I'm gonna have a good day instead of me getting beat. I've gotten used to it so I don't really get my hopes up.
"Lani it's time to come out. Your gonna be late." My mom said closing the door.
I've always liked water it was relaxing and it made me happy. I finished getting dressed and headed to the bus stop. My family isn't poor we just choose not to buy stuff that we don't need, you could say we're mid-class.
"Please don't come, please don't come." I crossed my fingers hoping that Alex and her gang wouldn't come to the bus stop. "Hey stupid did you miss me?" Alex came from behind snatching my bookbag.
"You better have something worth my time." She opened my bag and dumped everything out.
"Well, I don't." I stood up covering my face so she couldn't hit me, I'm not really big on the whole self-defense. "You learning how to speak up? Ion wanna have to beat you." She looked down the road looking for the bus.
"Alex that's enough," Niah said picking up my stuff. She's the only one who's nice to me but I don't trust it. No, I'm not stuck up it just seems a little off.
"Here you go ma." She gave me my bag with all my stuff in it.
"My name isn't ma, it's Lani." I rolled my eyes before taking back my bag and getting on the bus. "Well, Lani I'm gonna sit with you if that's okay." She sat down putting her arm around me. "I'm not sure I like what you're doing big fella." I looked at her then looked at her lips.
"My eyes up here ma." She inched closer to my face where our lips could be at the state of kissing.
"A shame that you don't got a shorty to beat ya shit up," Niah said as she moved her hand between my thighs.
"But I'm sure you could get the job done." I joked moving her hand only for it to be placed higher on my thigh. "Only one way to find out." I looked at wide-eyed scooting pass her, "Wow we're at school." I chuckled nervously getting off the bus, I rushed my way up to the double doors showing security my school ID.
Believe it or not but I do have friends at school I just never really communicate with them because I don't want them to get hurt while socializing with me. "Laylay! I missed you." My best friend Lexi hugged me picking me up off the ground. "I missed you too." I chuckled softly as people looked at us.
She put me down and held my hand instead. We got our papers that have our schedules and locker number.
"Same classes again?" I ran my fingers through her hair. "You already know. Any problems with Alex and the others?" She put in my locker combination and tossed my books in there. Lexi is like my walking guardian angel who is strangely attractive.
"Yeah, but the real problem is that Niah girl, she's so weird and touchy." I rolled my eyes while walking to the first period. I sighed after taking a seat in Lexi's lap and put my head down on the desk. "A whole summer and y'all still ugly," Lexi mumbled while playing in my hair.
"Y'all miss me or what?" Alex said turning the lights on and pausing the film the teacher had put on. "Just relax." Lexi rubbed my back in circles at a slow pace. "Wake me up when this is over." I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
Not to bad for a first chapter.
