Alex

"Can Trey come to my house this week?" I asked my mom over the phone. "Mhm sure." My mom doesn't really pay attention to me.

"Are you gonna come with him?" I said resting my head on my hand.

"No, I have work so Trey is just gonna have to put his big boy pants on and fly by himself."

"Where is he?" I sighed looking at my phone. "At home just give me a minute and let him get packed." She said before hanging up.

It's been a month since I talked to anybody. We're complete strangers to each other at school. The whole school knows we're on pause, she's still my baby just not at the moment.

I don't want Lani to move on and find someone better because I know I deserve her. Lani's perfect in my eyes and the thought of her with someone else doesn't sit right.

She graduated advanced classes with the highest grade right next to Lexi's. I'm proud of her, I just wish I was with her to celebrate.

I dropped all conversations with Deja because I found out she wasn't even into girls. She insisted on us being friends but I had to pass.

"Why do I like you some much?" I don't know what it is about Lani but I'm obsessed with her, I want to be around her 24/7.

Princess😍: Could you open the door? I have something to tell you.

I straightened up my shirt before opening the door for her. "Welcome," I mumbled sitting on the couch. "Could we do this in your room? I'd feel a lot more comfortable." Lani asked leading me to my room getting in my bed.

"What's up?" I scratched my head standing in front of her. "I'm going to California Institute of art." She said taking my hand.

"You're leaving?"

"I'm graduating senior year early and I'm leaving right after. I didn't want you to be the last one to know." She rubbed my hand looking up at me.

"Go do what you want and be successful," I said biting my lip looking away from her.

"What's wrong?" Lani sat up on her knees still holding my hand. "We haven't talked in a month, now all of a sudden you're leaving?" I pulled my hand away from her then crossed my arms.

"We haven't talked because you hurt me. Alex, I don't know what you were expecting but what you did was wrong."

"I know! I'm trying to fix it but how can I when you're ignoring me 24/7?"

"My cousin! Not my friend but my cousin! Did you think I'd let that slide? That's embarrassing, she has everything she wants but I didn't expect her to have you. So yeah I haven't talked to because I don't know how you really feel about me!"

I sighed sitting down next to her. "Lani, when I'm with you I feel complete and all my problems go away. I'm so attached to you, you don't even know, I want to spend the rest of my life under you. When I'm with you I feel like the happiest person on earth. I don't know what it is but Lani, you do something to me."

I don't like to open up but when it comes to Lani, I'll open up like a fucking book if I have to.

"I ain't know you felt like that." Lani laid her head on my shoulder reaching out for my head. "This means we're together again?" I have no control over my mouth.

"I don't know yet."

"It's not something I can get over quickly but you just gotta keep me on the line." Lani smiled lifting her head up.

Whatever it takes to keep her interested

"My brothers' coming over, I'mma have to slide another time." I grinned as she scrunched up her nose. "Letting you slide was never the plan so we all good over here."

We all know I get what I want, if I wanted to slide she'd let me.

Lani

"Alex, your brothers here." I stood at the door face to face with a little boy. "For crying out loud just let me in." He said barging in and putting his bags down.

"Okay then." I dragged his bag up the stairs bringing it to the guest room, when I came back he was already in the kitchen.

"Now this is a party, Trey this is my girlfriend, Lani this is Trey." I waved awkwardly while Alex wrapped her arm around him.

I let the 'girlfriend' label slide since Alex is trying to prove she wants me back in her life.

Trey looked me up and down before giving me a stank face."Girlfriend? Mommy said your girlfriends' name is Deja. She said that Deja dressed all girly and you'd buy her anything she wanted." Trey said looking at Alex then me

"That's enough buddy." Alex chuckled covering his mouth with her hand.

Did I speak to fucking soon? You betcha

"What else did mommy say about Alex and Deja?" I grabbed Alex's hand while looking at her. "Mommy even sent me pictures of them together at dinner." He scrolled through his phone showing me pictures.

"Trey, why don't you get settled in the guest room." Alex sent him off breaking eye contact with me.

"You told your mother about Deja and not me? Your brother didn't even know who I was." It's like I get dumber and dumber.

"It's not even like that, well not anymore."

"How old is that picture?" I leaned against the fridge and folded my hands. "Two weeks ago," Alex whispered.

"Y'all cute, you guys should get together." I chuckled walking away from her.

"What's going on?" Trey strutted into the kitchen sitting on the island. "Nothing, I was just leaving."

"Why don't you like Deja?" Trey asked looking at Alex and me.

"Deja, did some pretty bad things to me when I was younger. She lied to my parents about something very serious, my parents believed her and they were this close to giving me away." I pinched my fingers together showing him what I meant by 'this close.'

"But She and Alex are happy now so I guess that's all in the past." I smiled looking over at Alex. "Isn't that right, sweetheart?"

"I should be on my way, nice meeting you." I waved goodbye before going down the stairs. "Lani, at least let me explain." Alex followed behind me grabbing my arm.

"You lied to me, what else do you have to say?" I coughed pulling away from her. "Goodnight."

Tomorrow is the talent show and the last thing I need on my mind is some stupid lying girl!
