"I'm really sorry about what happened." I held Lani's hands while she looked away from me. "Goodbye Alex." Lani pulled her hands away but I quickly grabbed them back.
"I don't get no kiss?" I asked receiving a light kiss on the forehead. "Bye Trey." She leaned over me giving Trey a whole smooch on the cheek and everything.
"See you tomorrow," Niah said before driving off. "Why do you manage to mess every relationship up?" Niah looked at me through her front view mirror.
"I don't know man but I'm telling you this my last strike if I fuck up one of you niggas can take her from me." I threw my hands up in surrender.
"I don't want her, Scarlett doesn't want her. Car—"
"Carmen doesn't get a chance with her." I cut her off thinking about how she probably has Lani's picture hanging somewhere in her room.
"You never know, stuff could happen."
"Yeah! She put her dirty fingers inside my girlfriend!" I said showing Niah the two fingers I use to pleasure Lani.
"Carmen probably use those same fingers." She parked in my driveway.
"Trey, man let's go." I kissed my teeth snatching my stuff out her car while Niah laughed.
"Bro Carmen calling me right now."
I looked at her wide-eyed putting my stuff down getting back in the car. "Pick it up." I said pointing to the bright green button."Wassup." Niah said putting her phone on speaker.
"Nothing man just going to Lani crib real quick."
"The fuck you talking about—" I cussed as Niah covered my mouth."Ight man imma catch you later." She hanged up and took her hand off my mouth.
"The fuck she going to Lani house for?! Hope her ass know Lani and I are still together," I yelled balling up my fist.
"Let's just go watch her crib real quick and if shit goes south we go in."
"Whatever man." I'm sick and tired of Carmen thinking she got a chance with Lani. Lani doesn't like her! I don't care if I gotta put my hands on shorty, I don't give a fuck if Lani not claiming me right now, she's still my shorty.

"Laylay I'm gonna be back okay." My mom kissed my cheek before leaving. I played with my food resting my face on my knuckles.
"Yes, Niah?" I said answering my phone, I put my foot on the chair playing with my anklet Carmen gave me
"Carmen's coming over to see you."
"What she coming over my house for? I don't want visitors right now." I mumbled putting my food away.
"I don't know but don't hang up."
"Fine, I'll keep you guys in my pocket, just don't be too loud."
The doorbell rung while I shoved my phone into my pocket walking downstairs."Wassup mamas?" Carmen kissed my cheek giving me a hug while I tensed up.
"Well come in." I closed the door leading her upstairs and sat on the indoor balcony.
"What you up to?" She leaned against the wall keeping her eyes on me. "Nothing much but we gotta talk." I scratched the back of my head before gripping onto the railing.
"Wassup?"
"There's no us, Carmen, I don't see you as my girlfriend or anything close to that, I love Alex and I will always love Alex no matter how stupid she is at times. I know you like me but I just don't feel the same way, I get scared when I'm around you. I can't be in a relationship with someone who scares me. The point is we will never, ever be together. Like ever, I'm probably gonna forget about you in the near future." I sighed feeling a big weight come off my shoulders.
"So I can't have you?"
I nodded my head.
"Alright." Carmen turned doing a whole 360 and kicked me off the railing as I hit the hard tile floor.
I wheezed trying my best to move but it hurt even more."Alex!" I screamed before going into a spiral of coughs. "She's not coming to get you! I don't get it, man, why you like her so much." Carmen kicked my side as I let out another yelp.
"Alex!" I cried while my body ached.
"Oh my god shut up!" She sent another blow to my stomach. "Alex, Please!" Tears streamed down my face as I pushed myself against the wall, sitting with no strength to get up and fight.
"What's so good about Alex?" Carmen grabbed my face smashing my head into the wall repeatedly. "Stop! Please stop!" I sobbed grabbing her wrist trying to pull away. "Not until you tell me why you like Alex so much." She grabbed my face with both hands this time, pushing her thumbs into my eyes.
"Okay! Please stop!" I gasped waiting for my rescue. "I d-don't know why I love her... I-i just do." I sobbed crawling on all fours. "Liar!" She pulled her foot back before kicking me in my face. I was aching all over, the blood from nose and mouth dripped on the floor creating a small puddle.

"I never laid a finger on you!" Carmen rummaged through my supply closet taking out a golf club.
"Leave." I coughed looking at the clumps of blood coming out of me.
"Nope." She swung at my arms bruising them more than before, I was bleeding all over, my shirt was no longer white and my denim shorts were now stained. I curled into a ball holding my legs against my chest.
"I love you, Lani." Carmen grabbed me by my shirt forcing me to stand up. "No more." I cried bowing my head down.
"Alex, I love you." I smiled letting tears wash the blood off my face. My house was a mess and so was I but all I can focus on is the pain running through me.
I'm sorry for making us such an on and off couple.
I prayed Alex would come busting through that door. Carmen looked at me smiling, I could barely see her, everything was so dark.
"I- I will never love y-you." I coughed out weakly shoving her.
"It's showtime."
Carmen dropped me on the floor taking Alex on herself.

"Sorry, we took so long. I needed to use the big girls' room." Niah chuckled before picking me up bridal style.
"Alex," I whispered reaching out for her. "She'll see you at the hospital," Niah said laying me down in her car driving at a nice and relaxing speed.
"I... can't..." I choked on my words as the air became so thin it was almost like there was none.
Things became out of focus and all over the place. Niah's words were slow and hard to understand. The car slowly darkened but I managed to get out a sentence.
All I could hear was my head pounding, I couldn't hear anything else, not even my heartbeat.
"Alex I love you."
