Chapter 9

The next day, I drove to school with Farrah. We had a lot to talk about on the way to school. She kept gushing about my wedding. Well, at least someone was excited about it aside from my mom and Kristine. I rolled my eyes at that thought.
"What's the theme color again?" She asked for the hundredth time.
"Purple with a hit of the colors of the rainbow," I replied absent minded.
"Oooh! Like fairies?! I love that idea. It perfectly suits the garden theme!" She happily nodded her head in approval.
"Where is Dan these days?" I suddenly asked. "He went MIA after the confrontation during lunch. He barely eats lunch with us and hangs out with us."
"I told you, Dan likes someone. He's acting off lately and it's really bugging me." Farrah sighed.
"Maybe he's just shocked with the news of me being engaged. I mean, he did kinda mention that part to me yesterday."
"Yesterday? You saw him yesterday? God for you, I haven't seen him in two days! He leaves very early now and arrives early enough to shut himself up his room," she said.
"Maybe we should talk to him," I suggested. Farrah shook her head no. She knew her twin best, I trust her.
"He's uneasy about something, I can tell. Just give him time, he'l come around. For now, we'll enjoy our bonding moments, hmm?" I laughed and nodded. Just as we parked at the lot and jumped out of her jeep, Dan passed by us, completely ignoring us.
"What a douche, maybe you're right." I said to her as we passed by him and ignored him as well. "We should give him time."

I found roses at my locker. Farrah as going crazy, she's convinced that it came from Hunter. I looked at the note and read it silently.
Dear Valentine,
I want to make it up to you, so I bought you flowers. I'm not sure if you like flowers. But just in case I also got you chocolates.
Much love, Hunter
"I knew it was him! He's so romantic, Val! You're so lucky to have him as a fiance." Farrah gushed like a love sick teenager. Well, basically she is a teenager.
"Oh be quiet. He's just determined." I said, looking for the chocolates he wrote about. I loved chocolates and these flowers would look nice in that empty vase in my room.
"Look who's coming our way." She whispered, annoyed. I looked up and immediately my eyes narrowed. Of course. It was Trinity. Usually in other cliche books, the antagonists are bitchy and famous for being pretty and is well loved by everyone. Not in my case, though. Trinity was hated by most people but they still believed the bullshit she posts in her worthless blog. Ironic, really that even my best friend who knew better fell for it.
"Hi Val." She chirped happily.
"The name's Valentine, actually. Only friends can call me Val." I smiled back, extra extra sweet.
She snorted and waved her hand, "whatever.. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that whatever you do to stop me, I'll eventually get my scoop."
"Yeah, of ice cream at Bobby's. You can get one later," I replied nodding at her. Her face was priceless. Her jaw dropped and her eyes went wide and I could have sworn a little drool was there.

During lunch, Dan didn't sit with us. I rolled my eyes when he passed by us to sit next to his basket ball buddies. Farrah gave him an annoyed look.
"See? He's been ignoring us for so long." Farrah said, poking her salad.
"It's just been a few hours, you can live with that." I replied.
"Yeah, but it's so lonely that its just the two of use eating here. We look like loners...or...not." I looked up from my food to give her a questioning look, then I felt  body next to mine.
"Hey, cupcake! How's your day?" Hunter's cheerful voice came from beside me.
"It was going smoothly until you appeared." I scowled.
"Did you receive the flowers I sent you?" He giddily asked.
"Um, yeah." I nodded. Farrah beamed and nodded along with me.
"That was so sweet of you, Hunter! She loved them! How did you know she liked roses?" She asked.
"I didn't, my mom have thousands of roses at our garden so I thought I'd put use to those." He shrugged.
Farrah sighed dreamily, "that's more romantic! How thoughtful! And the chocolates, where did you get them? It's like from France or something."
Hunter laughed, "it's actually from Belgium. They make exquisite chocolate there. I had to order from my German friend." He was acting like a complete cool guy courting someone. Well, he kinda is courting someone...
"That's much more romantic, don't you think so, Val?" Farrah turned to me. I numbly nodded and shoved my food into my mouth.
So basically lunch was about Farrah asking Hunter questions and Hunter was answering, then Farrah would squeal and say how romantic he was. I was half listening to them when I noticed Dan looking at our table with envious eyes. I bet he was jealous because Farrah was giving Hunter all her attention. Before the bell rang, we threw our trash and headed to our next class. Hunter grabbed my arm and held me back.
"What are you doing tonight?" He asked, his face was serious.
"Nothing. School work? I don't know." I replied shrugging.
"Great, I'll pick you up at seven." He beamed.
"Um.. Ok, I guess." I looked down and blushed. Did he just ask me out? Oh my.
"Ok, see you later then." He smiled then walked off, leaving me looking at his retreating back dazedly. Yup, he jtold me he'd pick me up. He just asked me out. And I just realized that he didn't exactly ask me out, he kinda told me he'd pick me up. I grinned like a crazy fool and skipped, literally skipped, to class.

I couldn't wait for school to end so I could get ready for my supposed-date with Hunter. So basically, it's not a date. I messaged Farrah if she could help me out and she was too happy to help me out. Just too happy.
"This is going to be so much fun!" She clapped her hands as I unlocked the car doors.
"Um, yeah." I tried to act a little bit happy but I just couldn't! I was too anxious.
"Did he tell you where you guys were going to what you're supposed to wear?" I shook my head.
"My friend is such a newb when it comes to dating. You didn't even ask?" She gave me a look as I shook my head again.
"I didn't because I was running later and..." I trailed off, not knowing what else to say.
"You were too excited?" She raised an eyebrow. I shrugged, maybe I was, maybe I wasn't! Who knew!
"Kinda, yes." I sighed. She let out a loud shriek and jumped out of the car. She dragged me to my wardrobe and pulled out thousands of dresses and threw them at me. "Mrs. Hopkins won't like this when she sees it, Farrah." Yep, the house keeper would definitely be pissed at me, so to say.
"She's paid to do it anyway!" She hollered at me. I rolled my eyes. She knew very well that Mrs. Hopkins was sort of like a family to me by now. Offensive little--
"Here we go! It's perfect. It's just perfect!" She threw the floral printed top in my face and turned back and looked for something else. She soon came back out with a pair of white sandals and denim shorts that were stylishly tattered at the edges. "Take a bath and put these on. Make sure to be really fast, we have to fix your hair." I mockingly saluted and her and took a quick bath. Later, when I came out, she was talking to herself. I rolled my eyes again at her craziness.
"Gold hoops or silver hoops?" She asked, showing me two pairs of earrings.
"Silver one, most definitely." I nodded towards them. She smiled and threw me my clothes for me to change in. I slipped on the shorts first then I put on the floral top, which just ended a few centimeter above my belly button. I put the pink see-through top over everything else. Farrah told me to sit down and she put a bit of make-up on my face, then she curled my hair into perfection. Thank goodness for my best friend.
"Oh my gosh, that so does not look like me!" I said, examining myself.
"I know! You look more gorgeous than you already are!" She clapped her hands. "Now, he's about to pick you up. It's six fifty now." She looked at my digital clock. "Well, I have t go. Tell me everything later, kay?"
"Yeah, thanks again!" I nodded, waving.
"You are so welcome, babe!" She giggled and shut the door behind her.
Minutes later, I heard the door bell ring. He's a bit early, I looked at myself one last time. Yes, I was so going to rock this first date.
