Chapter 13
"I've been in love with you for the longest time, Val..." He trailed off. I wanted to jump off a cliff right now, seriously?! Why the hell now, of all times?
"Daniel," I said slowly. "I'm engaged, way before we met and way before you liked me. I know I'm not a big fan of Hunter Blakewood, hell neither are you but I can't be unfaithful to him."
He looked heartbroken and I was the reason of that, I couldn't bare to see this. I turned around to leave but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back. He grabbed the back of my head and pulled me in for a kiss. For a moment I lost myself in it, then my conscience kicked in. Valentine Athena Harries, break the damned kiss and tell him to never talk about it ever again! You're cheating on Blakewood, even if you hate him. I broke the kiss and wiped my lips with my hand, I looked at him and he looked at me.
"I'm sorry, Val.." He began. I raised one finger to signal him to stop talking. He immediately stopped, and waited for me to talk.
"We can't do this, Dan. I'm engaged and to be married in two months and you're...you, hot and popular basketball player of the school, girls would throw themselves at your feet. We just won't do."
"I knew you'd say this, and I understand. You're such a kind heart for not cheating on Blakewood." He smiled sadly at me and started leaving.
"We're still friends, right?" I called.
He turned around, facing me with a smile. "Of course we still are."
I grinned at him and followed suit. "Oh, who's fixing all of that?" I asked, pointing at the post-its on the floor and the christmas lights.
"Nah, leave them. YOLO, right?" He laughed. I nudged his side with my elbow jokingly.
"You did not just say that!" I laughed along with him.
"So what if I did?" He challenged. Were we flirting? Holy shit, stop it!
"You are not going to get a wedding invitation," I blurted out. What the fudge out of all of the things, an invitation? He must be happy that he's not even getting one.. after that talk we just had? Yeah, right.
"Aw, I'm hurt, Val. I may not be a big fan of Vunter, but it will be an honor to be in it." He said.
I snorted, "Vunter? You're actually pulling a Trinity Parker ship name on me?"
We laughed and it almost felt like we were ourselves again. It felt like there was nothing in between us, nothing wrong, no Hunter Blakewood, no engagement, and no confessions. It actually felt sincere and real for once. We went our seprate ways. The moment I reached home, I let out a tired sigh. No more sneaking out at night just to go to mysterious meet-ups! Then my phone lit up, a new message.

Sorry I kicked you out today. I helped Dan set up in the park... he was the one I was talking to, not a secret boyfriend, though that would have been better. See you tomorrow, babe! xx -F
