The two little girls ran through the field, holding hands and giggling. They twirled around, and fell down on the grass. One started picking grass, and throwing at the other one. "Hey! Perrie, stop!" The small brunette giggled.
"Never, Jadore!" The small blonde cried, throwing more grass.
Jade lunged forward and tackled Perrie, sending them both to the ground. They both sat up, shaking with peals of laughter. They looked at each other and an idea set off a lightbulb in both their minds.
"Flower crowns!" They exclaimed at the same time. They rushed toward a clump of flowers at the edge of the field, carefully picking the flowers and tying the stems together. They worked on their projects for a long time, tongues poking out of the mouths in concentration.
Finally, Jade held up her crown in triumph. "Finished!" She exclaimed. "I won."
"It's not a contest," Perrie pouted, looking down at her nearly done creation. She quickly finished the crown and set it next to Jade's.
They both nodded with approval, then Perrie reached over and poked Jade's arm. "Tag!" She shouted, taking off away from the field. Jade let out a laugh and ran after her.
They continued to play until the sun started to set. "It's time to go!" The girls' mothers called to them.
"Just a minute!" The girls called back. They grabbed hands, and stared into each other's eyes.
"Do you, Jade Amelia Thirlwall, promise to be my best friend, in rain and shine, in think and thin?" Perrie asked.
"I do," Jade said. "Do you, Perrie Louise Edwards, promise to be my best friend, in rain and shine, in think and thin?"
"I do," Perrie grinned.
The little girls then reached down, picked up the flower crowns, and put them on each other's heads. They then turned to face their mothers, holding hands. They both said, "We announce each other best friends for life!" They then looked at each other, and burst out laughing.
As they ran back to their moms, Jade whispered to Perrie, "I'll always be your friend. No matter what, you can count on me."
