Your mind begins to pull you out of your dreams. You feel a rhythmic rumble under your head that matches a soft snoring next you to. Your eyes slowly open and you let out a quiet yawn and sit up. You look next to you to see Tom in the exact position he was in when you both fell asleep. You laugh silently to yourself. ~oh goodness there is no way that is comfy...~ you think and you remember how Tom is always complaining about back pains from sleeping on the couch.
-
You take a minute to just sit there and enjoy the moment, then you get up and grab a towel and an outfit to wear for the day. You hop in the shower, but only take a quick one because you want to get breakfast ready. You turn the water off and wrap yourself in a towel.
-
You hear Tom shout from the kitchen. "Good morning, darling! I'm making some breakfast!"
-
This puts a wide grin on your face. ~guess he beat me to it this time~ you think to yourself. Somehow Tom always manages to get breakfast started before you do. ~he's such a morning person!!~
-
You dry yourself off and reach for your clothes on the counter top, but your hands feel nothing but the hard granite. You look to see that your clothes aren't in the bathroom at all. ~shit, I must've left them on my dresser!~ you curse yourself.
-
You crack the door open to make sure that Tom is still in the kitchen. You make sure your towel is wrapped around you and the corner is tucked in at the top to ensure that it won't fall off. ~thank goodness I just bought these new big towels last paycheck...~ you thank yourself and look down to see that the towel covers all the way just past your mid thigh.
-
You check once more to see if Tom is still in the kitchen before scurrying to your bedroom. When you get there you very quietly close the bedroom door and see that your clothes are sitting right on too of you dresser on the other side of the bedroom. You start to walk towards them, keeping your towel on.
-
Suddenly, your bedroom door opens and you jump, startled. You turn around to see Tom shirtless, holding his white tshirt in his hand, frozen in the doorway. You both stare at eachother for just a moment then the awkwardness sets in.
-
"Oh my goodness, darling, I uhh am so sorry! I thought you were.... Uhh still in the bathroom. I got bacon grease on my shirt and wanted to put on a different one and... Oh my gosh I am so sorry!" Tom says everything in one big breath and is looking around your room, anywhere but towards you, the entire time. On his last apology he is turning around and shutting the door and walking back towards the kitchen.
-
You are still frozen in your spot from embarrassment. Then you just sit on your bed and put your face in your hands. ~oh my gosh could that have been anymore embarrassing?? At least I still had my towel on.. Now breakfast is gonna be super awkward. Why the hell did that happen?~ you continue to think about the situation over and over in your he's as you put your clothes on. You go back into the bathroom and brush your teeth and blow dry your hair. You look at yourself in the mirror and take a deep breath, then step out of the bathroom and head for the living room.
-
Tom is sitting on the couch and already has the tv turned on at a low volume. As you get closer you see he has a plate on his lap with bacon and eggs on it and two cups of orange juice on the table next to the couch.
-
"Hey.." You say, already feeling awkward. ~at least he has his shirt on, or maybe that's not a good thing....~ you think.
-
"Oh hey! I left your plate on the counter because I didn't know how much you wanted..." He scratches his neck and looks away. "I...uhh... I'm.." Tom is clearly also feeling awkward. You decide to say something. But it doesn't work out.
-
"No, Tom, it's totally fine." "I'm really sorry, y/n, I didn't--" you both say at the same time, then laugh.
-
"It's really no big deal, Tom!" You say with a smile. "Now, before this gets anymore awkward, I'm gonna go get some delicious food." You turn on your heel and head towards the kitchen. But, before you get there, Tom grabs your arm and twists you back around. Before you realize what he's doing, you are smothered by his arms and his sweet scent fills your senses. You lay your head on his chest and hug him back. Everything else momentarily disappears in that moment. You even let yourself enjoy it by closing your eyes and just take in the moment.
-
"Y/n, I know I'm doing a lot of apologizing right now, but I need you to know that I truly am sorry. I shouldn't have just disappeared for almost three weeks. I should have called you.... You know what? I shouldn't have even left after the argument in the first place. I should have explained everything to you right then and there. I missed you so much these last two and a half weeks..." Tom whispers in your ear while he's hugging you. You can hear him getting emotional, but instead of pulling away like you normally do when things start to get deep, you hug him tighter as if saying that he doesn't even have to apologize because you've already forgiven him.
-
After just a moment longer, you pull away from each other and you look in his eyes. You're surprised to see that they are a little watery and you just give him a reassuring smile and rub his arm. You then turn around and head towards the kitchen.
-
You come back with your plate of food and throw yourself down onto the couch. "Okay, we need to talk now, Tom. I have to tell you about--" he cuts you off like he's been doing lately.
-
"Before you tell me that, there's something I need to tell you." He has a serious tone in his voice that makes you nervous.
-
~this is gonna be interesting.~
