Me: It's been two weeks! Sorry to kind of leave you in suspense, but it's all worth it.
Anya: Are you sure?
Me: Trust me, you're in for something you'll never forget.
I don't know." Zaion spat.
"You're lying." Anya growled.
Outside the door, Milo saw guards start coming towards the room.
Anya held the dagger closer to Zaion's throat. "Don't lie to me!" Her voice held a scary tone.
"Woah!" Milo exclaimed, grabbing Anya's arm. "Come on kid, we gotta go!"
Anya pulled her arm away. "No! He knows where she is!"
"Come on!" Milo yelled, pulling Anya.
The two ran towards a door in the back of the room, and got inside just as the guards burst into Zaion's room.
Anya and Milo started up the stairs, but Milo moved towards the exit.
"Where are you going?" Anya asked.
"We have to get out of here!" Milo replied.
Anya shook her head. "Not without Korra and Jinora."
Milo sighed but followed Anya towards the cells.
All the cell doors were open, and prisoners were running around.
Korra and Jinora found Anya first. "Did a little re-wiring." Korra said. "Who's this?"
"Not important." Anya replied. "Let's go!"
The group of teens ran as far as they could away from the base.
"We need to contact Tenzin." Korra said.
Jinora nodded and meditated, sending her spirit to Air Temple Island.
"What do we do now?" Milo asked.
"We wait here for Tenzin to show up with Oogi." Anya replied stiffly.
She walked away, closer into the forest.
An hour later, Tenzin arrived with Oogi, and all the kids climbed onto the bison's back.
Anya sat towards the back, alone.
Once night fell the group stopped to camp out for the night.
After camp was set up, Milo sat down next to Anya. The two sat in silence for a few minutes.
"You don't have to talk to me." Anya said. "I'm okay."
"I don't want to talk." Milo replied. "I want to listen."
Anya sighed.
"What was all that about?" Milo questioned.
"Zaion was my stepfather." Anya answered. "He.....did things. I made him leave one day, but my mother disappeared. I don't know what happened to her."
"Maybe Zaion really doesn't know what happened to her." Milo supplied.
"He has to know." Anya replied. "He has to."
"Why?" Milo asked.
"Because if he doesn't, then she's really gone." Anya answered. "There's no way for me to find her."
A tear made its way down Anya's face, and Milo wrapped an arm around her and pulled her into a hug.
"It's alright, kid." He said. "It'll be okay."
The following morning, Lin Beifong came to the house so Anya and Jinora could report what they'd seen.
"The first man we came across was actually pretty nice." Anya explained. "He showed us one of the taken-over towns, and then we got him to bring us to the main Outsiders base. The president....." she trailed off.
"Is a horrible person." Jinora continued. "He did horrible things, and he needs to be put in prison."
"Then we need to bring down the organization." Lin said, standing up.
"No." Anya interrupted. "The crazy thing is, even though Zaion is a horrible person, he came up with a pretty good system."
"Besides the part about people who aren't perfect." Jinora said.
"You're crazy." Lin replied.
"No, really." Anya said. "The system was good. Everyone worked, and you got paid more depending on your job."
"But no matter what, everyone got enough to live happily." Jinora continued. "Everyone was given food at the beginning of the week, so no one goes hungry."
"This might sound crazy," Anya started, "but maybe we could work with the Outsiders. Except in our version, everyone is accepted. We just have to take down Zaion." She clenched her fist at the thought.
"And how would we do that?" Tenzin asked.
"I.......I'm not sure yet." Anya said. "But I'll work on it."
"We'll all work on it." Jinora added. "Together."
Me: This is kind of short but I'll post again soon. Please comment if you enjoyed!
