"Sometimes things happen to us that we just do not understand. These things sometimes become the doors and windows to our destiny."

Sapphira's POV:

*********

The dawn came with a musical silence, the air is delicate and cool as it kissed my skin with moisture, the sky has softened to a blue, under the gentle spring sun, its rays brushed my skin; the dewy freshness of the hour, the morning rhapsody of the birds, set my heart in tune. As I opened the doors of my balcony to feel the magic of dawn, the once dark spruce forest is now a picture of serenity. The woods are calm and beautiful. I could faintly distinguish the echoing sounds of forest animals far away and the birds chirping. The forest seemed alive. Having a contented sleep and witnessing a picturesque beauty, I head in to take a fresh shower in hopes to find out what moments this day had in store for me. After thirty minutes of taking a warm shower, opening my wardrobe, I had a battle in my mind to find a perfect dress and ten minutes later, I choose to wear a Blue-Off shoulder Cotton pencil skirt, which I found quite comfortable yet screaming professionalism. Looking at myself in the mirror, I am met with a professional looking young businessperson with her dark hair locks in curls and bouncing over her shoulders.

Feeling confident, I exited my bedroom and headed towards the kitchen to please my growling stomach. I was greeted with the sight of an old woman cooking with a cheerful hum escaping her lips. It looked as if; old age and grey hair could be least bothered. They have not dampened her spirit. Her way of cooking seemed dexterous and I wondered if that has made her too engrossed to not to acknowledge my presence. Choosing to make my grand entry, I coughed a little causing her to face towards me.

"Good morning ma'am, I am so sorry I haven't sensed your presence. I didn't know what came over me," she said with her eyebrows furrowed as if in deep thought.

Before I could say anything, she continued "Oh dear, by the way, I'm Maria Kenner and Mr. Randall appointed me as your maid." she had a soft smile grazing her lips.

"Good morning Maria, I'm Sapphira Alicia Williams. It is nice meeting you and you can call me Sappphira. Could you please offer me your delicious breakfast or else you are likely to get attacked by the grumbling noises of my stomach." She chuckled at my quirky reply and soon enough a Tomato-Zucchini Strata and a cup of hot coffee is placed before me. The sight of Swiss cheese, the tender Zucchini's and the bitter yet erotic flavour of the coffee hit my nostrils and I did not waste a second to devour its taste. Praising Maria for her cooking skills, I exited for the office in my Black SUV.

After an hour, I find myself in front of a grey coloured, colossal glass building. As the glass mirrors the dazzling beams of sun rays, there is a glimmering appearance, which triggered a euphoric sensation within me. This is where my father used to work with all his will and now I am going to step in his place. "I won't let him down", I thought to myself.

With a blinding smile that could put the brilliant rays to shame, Tyler headed towards me. "Goodness child, you have grown into such a fine young woman, it has been such a long time since I last saw you. I wish we met in different state of things. Ah, but nevertheless I am so proud that you took up your father's responsibilities." Tyler had said those words with a sincerity that made me smile.

"How are you Mr. Randall? It's good to meet you again." I said smiling.

"I am fine dear, now come on let's get inside." Tyler said, and we both made our way into the building through the sliding glass wall system. Behind the low reception desk-a huge chunk of driftwood covered in seashells, sits a woman slumped in a deck chair. She greeted me as soon as I entered. All along the way, various employees greeted me. Returning their greetings with a nod wrapped with a small smile, I took notice of the company's lobby that looked classy. Soon we rode into the elevator and all along, I was confident in my steps. After reaching the 32nd floor where my office is, I stood still for a split second when I came to know that this is the real lobby and the one down floor is for security screening. Though I am a daughter of the CEO, I hardly privileged myself with luxuries. I have always been an independent bird. The sight in front of me was marvellous. The lobby is sparse with the usual ornate detailing, more geometrical than classical.

As I entered into my office, the sight of turquoise coloured walls with furnished interior gave a pleasant sight to the eyes. The floor was tiled in fine marble making my steps echo. With a quick scan at my office, I turned to Tyler who now holds a small smile on his face.

"I take it, that you liked your new office," he said.

"Yes Mr. Randall. The room is quite cordial" I replied with a smile of my own.

"Now, now, there is no need for formalities dear. You can call me Tyler as you usually do. Though it has been a long-time, I can still see the little girl who would bounce up and down at the mention of an escapade or a new book," he said reminiscing the olden days and I chuckled softly at the memories.

"You can always approach me with any matter of concern dear. I know it is hard to cope with all that is happening, but I will always be here for you. Your father, apart from being a CEO, was also my best friend. I sure am going to attend his daughter's worries." Tyler's words gave me reassurance and were quite heartfelt. It brought back the memory of my father and a traitor tear slipped out of my eye. Tyler was in my life during my childhood and has been a constant figure from then on, though we have not met in a long-time.

"Thank you Tyler. I know it is hard for you too. It's means a lot to me that you are here for me." He soon engulfed me in an embrace that reminded me of my father's warm hugs.

"I will let you be then, so you could get accustom to the business dealings." I gave him a faint smile and Tyler left the office handing me a few files.

William Enterprises had its branches extended in many places of the world. However, the head office where the global management is coordinated is located here in Chicago. I know that my company is at top of the scale, but after two hours of going through all the data, I was nonplussed that it is no longer a crown instead it's coming next. I called Tyler for answers and soon he entered the office.

"Sapphira, we were at the top until the last three years and The Winfred Group Of Companies were in second place in stock markets. But as soon as the other young CEO has took over that company, his remarkable strategies despite his age and his enormous intellect wrapped with courage to take humongous risks made the other companies including ours elude from success" said Tyler with a hint of admiration making his face bauble.

"What's his name?" was all I could ask out of curiosity. I want to know about the person who was successful in adorning the top position and even more, Tyler is speaking so highly of him.

"Alessio Zyan Winfred" was his simple reply.
