Sapphira's POV:
*********
Midnight 11:50:
Having landed in Chicago from Madagascar with tons of feelings and responsibilities couldn't hold the escape of a lone tear from my eye. Sitting against the windowpane in the rear seat of my Lamborghini, with the cool breeze caressing my cheeks, I couldn't stop a certain piece of memory from invading my mind.
***flashback***
Rushing into St .Andrews hospital, all I can see is the fragile body of my father Mr. Richard Stan Williams lying there in an intensive care unit and the sight made my heart race in fear for his life. Never in my life have I seen my father in such a vulnerable state.
"He had been attacked by a heart stroke thrice in this six months span of time. It's likely that his chances of survival are weak" said the doctor, which brought a sharp pain within my heart making me go weak at my knees.
Heading towards the room my father is being treated, by keeping up a brave facade and bracing my heart, I walked up to my father to touch his hand hoping that he would be alright and everything would be fine. Slowly he opened his eyes and a faint smile formed at the corner of his lips as if he was trying to give me some form of assurance.
"Sapphira, all throughout my life your lovely face has been a reminder for me to never live with a feeling that your mother is no longer with us. I'm one of those miserable fathers who couldn't see his daughter getting married and living happily with her husband. All I'm leaving behind for you are a bunch of responsibilities. William Enterprises are the last remnants of your mother. The company reminds me of your mother's hard work and optimism in helping me build a successful empire. I want you to take over the company as there are numerous lives, which depend on it and I know that you will be a successful entrepreneur.
They say one can feel their life closing on them when they are on their deathbed and I sense as though my time has come sweetheart. I am sorry that I could no longer be a part of your life my daughter. All I can say is stay strong for your sake and never feel alone because your mother and I will always be watching over you. I think your mother is eagerly waiting for my arrival dear child." were his last words.
***End of Flashback***
The lone tear has been long replaced by a trail of tears, which have started falling freely on my cheeks. I have slumped against my seat seeking some form of comfort when I realised my father is never going to come back and my life is never going to be the same without him.
Soon after coming back from my remembrance, I have realised that I couldn't afford being weak, instead I'm going to fulfil my father's last wish. I am going to treasure my past and move along to make new memories.
Entering into this city had let in an unknown solace creep within my heart, a feeling of unknown contentment dancing within my soul. I couldn't quite decipher my newfound tranquillity. Maybe it has something to do with my afresh resolve. I had a soft faint smile curved on my lips. As I was busy devouring the cool breeze, I heard the ocean waves roaring with all its might making my head turn towards my right. My eyes have been gifted with the beautiful sight of the ocean with moon adorning on top of it. The moonlight shone on the water like a pale band of silver, a diffuse glow, lessening the inky blackness of the night. Nevertheless, not as bright as the stars those are beautifully studded as diamonds in the sky. The sight is quite panoramic which made me awe struck and is quite breath taking.
Even more, I did not miss a silhouette standing on the shores, against the deep velvety sky facing the ocean, watching the tides as if he was searching for his answers. Though he is a stranger, one look at his back, which is vague, and there is a strange enigma nuzzling my heart waiting to be solved. The feeling had me puzzled and I tried to have a clear look at the dark mysterious silhouette making my eyes squint. The person was standing all alone by himself on the beach shore as though he refuses company. Maybe he is lonely to not have anyone by him. Maybe he is taking in the scenery ahead of him and wants to enjoy the comfort it provides. Whatever the reason, I was more perplexed by my train of thoughts over a complete stranger. It definitely has to do with my mind adjusting itself to the atmosphere, at the least that is what I could infer. The car moved forward causing me to lose sight of him. Something about the scene I just witnessed had me wishing that the person whoever he might be would find his peace from the soothing noises of the ocean. After a few hours of peaceful drive, I was taken to my mansion located here in Chicago. All I am going to do tomorrow is to take a lead towards my responsibilities.
After entering the mansion, glancing around it had me smiling when I reminisced about the precious memories of my childhood I shared here with my parents. I made my way ascending the wooden staircase into the humongous lilac coloured bedroom with a king sized bed and with neatly folded duvets placed on its side. I have informed about my arrival to my vice president Mr. Tyler Randall. He did a good job in making the place feel like home. All my accessories in my wardrobe have already been arranged properly.
I opened the door of balcony only to be gifted by the sight of thousands of acres of lush green leaves glistening with the dewdrops under the moon shone light. Though the forest spread across in front of me emitted an aura screaming its wildness, the rawness that unveils in it made my heart shudder with contentment and thrill.
Upon seeing, this sight clearly brought a heart-warming smile on my face. As I gaze into the green canopy, it felt as though I was acknowledged when the soft chill breeze caressed my cheeks and ruffled my dark hair locks. The gesture was refreshing. The moonlit night had caused the trees to form silhouettes of different forms and just like that, my thoughts drifted to a certain dark silhouette creature with his hands sited inside his pockets, standing all alone along the shores of the ocean. The sudden change of course of my mind along those train of thoughts had me confused.
Taking a deep breath and having kept all my notions aside, I laid on my bed to catch some rest. Deep in my heart, I am excited for my first day in the William Enterprises and a new beginning.
"Tomorrow is going to be a long day," echoed my inner voice before my eyes drifted to sleep. .....
