"Feelings never do make sense. They get you all confused. Then they drive you around for hours before they drop you right back where you started." - Unknown

Alessio's POV:

*********

"Alpha, Mr. Harley Lorne likes to know if you approve of his terms," my assistant said, lowering her eyes as soon as I arched my head towards her, peeling my gaze away from the window I am standing next to.

Harley was told before that the project goes according to The Winfred Groups approved layouts. However, he is persistent in changing them in his favour and had been constantly sending different sets of file proceedings to waver my decision.

"Inform Lorne Corporations that their collaboration is no longer needed for the project. If he wishes to have a part in it, then he must accept the terms analysed before. Leave now." I said, irritation seeping into my tone at his expense.

"Yes Alpha" was all is heard followed by a door clicking shut. I must say this Harley is quite pushy for a human who was denied twice. Now this would be thrice and that is it.

Turning my attention towards the glass pane, Willis Tower - the tallest building in Chicago once again greeted my line of sight. Its apex glints in the beaming light as if it is piercing through the blanket of blue. The view surfaced a vibe, like a sharp knife piercing my heart, which is the remnant of an incident that happened yesterday.

*****flashback*****

While I was busy staring at the ocean, waves gliding along the shores and the salt water spraying droplets onto my bare sand encrusted feet, a feeling stirred for a few seconds which was more amazing and breathtaking than the magical waves and the velvety sky. Although I am gifted with warm flesh and bone, the chilly tingles on my back made me shiver and for a moment, I was brought out of my introversion and melancholy. Goose bumps that were not there despite the chill weather now crept along my spine as traces of wild Chamomile scent invaded the air burning all my senses alive. Zyan was relishing the newfound fragrance with all his might and I hastily turned around to find the source of my wolf's joy. I saw nothing apart from a car dashing through the breezy night. In this place where the cold stalks through the night relentlessly numbing my aching heart, it was but mere seconds that the feeling warmed the cockles of my heart and soon left me in shambles.

*****End of flashback*****

Coming out of my reverie, I briefly wondered about it. Nothing could take away the pleasant prickles that tightened my heart gently and it is frustrating to know that I was not able to trace its reason. Though I chose to ignore it, my wolf is not having any of it. Even so, I knew better than to obsess over a thin streak of warmth that will soon be wrecked and it is more than enough that I let my heart to feel it. Sighing, I walked over to my chair to analyse the audit report placed on my desk.

A pair of feet shuffled outside my cabin and I knew who it was by the familiar scent. Knocking once on the door to indicate his presence he entered and there stood the vice-president of my company, Nathaniel who is none other than my beta.

"Good Morning Alpha" he greeted with a cold yet calm posture. With a nod from my side, he continued "We have an invitation Alpha" was all he said. I continued to look at him indicating him to go on because my beta very well knew that I do not attend any gatherings. He went on to say, "The William Enterprises is hosting a party inviting all the elites including us." I am slightly surprised that this particular William Enterprises CEO is going to inaugurate a gathering just to befriend the professional society.
