Jonas: Will u go out with me?
Me: Jonas, I don't know if this is a good time to start a relationship. For Pete's sake, we're still trying to find out who killed Chase!
Jonas: I figured you'd say that :)
Me: Then why'd u ask?
Jonas: Because, knowing u, by the time we've finished the investigation, I know you'll have made up ur mind, and you'll say yes :) Don't worry, Johanna, I can wait.
Me: Jonas, sometimes I think u know me too well.
Jonas: I like it that way. Makes things less complicated.
Me: btw, I never said yes, so you can't know 4 sure what my answer will be.
Jonas: I know what u said, and I know what u will say. See u tomorrow!
That's Jonas for you.

True to his word, Jonas showed up the next day after I had finished my breakfast. I heard the door open and close, and I saw him help himself to some orange juice in the fridge.
"What's up?" No mention of last night's conversation.
"Sometimes I think too much is up," I replied. Chase, Sophie, Jonas, life...it was too much.
"What do you mean?" he asked me.
"Chase is gone, Jonas, and we don't know who killed him. The lack of suspects, the penicillin, the steroids! Even my dad's investigation isn't getting much info! What are we gonna do, Jonas?" My head pounded, and I felt like crying of frustration.
"Nothing."
"Wait, what?"
"You need to learn to relax just a little more, Jo."
"But, Jonas, if we relax, we won't get anything done!"
"If we don't relax, we'll both have a mental breakdown."
I thought for a moment and realized that Jonas was right.
"You know what I think?" Jonas asked.
"What?"
"We need a day off from life."

Twenty minutes later we were walking in the nearby park with Starbucks coffees in hand. My head wasn't throbbing nearly as much anymore, and I knew I needed this "day off".
"Thanks, Jonas. I needed this."
"I know. You're welcome," he said with a smile.
I sighed contentedly, and noticed a familiar face standing near the restrooms.
"Hello, Miss Robinson!" I said.
Miss Robinson was our school nurse. She had just started working at the school for a couple months, but she was definitely one of the nicest nurses we'd ever had.
Miss Robinson walked closer towards us, her auburn hair looking as neat as always. "Hello, Johanna! Hi, Jonas! How are you two doing?"
"We're doing well, thank you," Jonas replied.
"What brings you to the park?" I asked.
"Oh, my daughter and I just decided to take a walk on this just gorgeous day," she replied bubbly.
"Oh, I didn't know you had a daughter," I said.
"Well, I've only been working at her school a couple months with you guys, so it never really came up. She's in the bathroom. I'm just waiting for her to--"
At that moment, the door swung open, and there emerged the last person I expected to see.
"Sophie?"
She looked towards us with confusion and disgust.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"Taking a walk," Jonas replied.
"Sure," she sneered. "And I bet you were hoping to interrogate me too. You guys are horrible! Mom, let's get out of here!" she said as she stomped away. Miss Robinson, confused, chased after her daughter.
"So much for a day off," Jonas whispered as his face began to pale.
"What do you mean? Running into Sophie again doesn't lead to more answers, does it? Jonas...what's wrong?"
"Johanna, Sophie's mom is a nurse. Do you know what a nurse could have in her office?"
Then it clicked.
Penicillin.

Jonas and I continued walking through the park. This latest information could lead to more answers.
"So what do you think we should do?" I asked.
"I don't know. I mean, we can't just go up to Sophie and say 'Hey, you must have murdered Chase since your mom is a nurse.'"
"Of course not."
"We need more evidence before we try accusing anybody."
"Obviously," I agreed.
"I think we should go back to your house and list our thoughts on the whiteboard."
"Yeah, and I guess that ends our day off."
