Dedicated to @Hannahdoom for being such an awesome supporter of this story! I always look forward to reading your comments :)

"What did you offer him, Cassidy?" Dad asked.

Cassidy smiled. "Steroids," she whispered.

"So that's how he got them," I whispered. Jonas didn't respond.

Cassidy continued, "I told him I could get him some steroids if he kept quiet. It took him three days to finally say yes. The kid needed to loosen up big time," she rolled her eyes at the last statement.

"Chase didn't appear to have gained a crazy amount of muscle, just enough to get stronger than he would at football practice. Why is that?

"He was probably taking low dosages. I can already picture him with a guilty look on his face. I bet he was trying to make him feel better about himself."

"All right, now what did Chase do that made you want to kill him?  He kept quiet didn't he?"

"Yeah, for a while. I gave Chase the steroids probably in...September? So he told me up until January that he was working really hard to get into Harvard and hopefully get a football scholarship. Once January rolled around, he told me he got accepted and got the scholarship too. I was so happy for the two of us. I figured our lives would be perfect once we got to college."

"Did something change that?"

"Yeah, I thought Chase and I were getting closer around prom time. He never formally asked me to go with him, but it was implied that we would since he was my boyfriend. So, of course, I was super excited. Senior year was almost over, and everything was working out better than I planned...until I found out Chase lied to me."

I scrunched my eyebrows at her last statement. Chase would never lie, not even to Cassidy. But if he lied to her, did he lie to us, too?

"What did he lie to you about?" Dad asked.

"His sports scholarship. Like the day before prom I found out that Harvard doesn't give sports scholarships. None of the Ivy League schools do. Turns out he never even got accepted! I mean, yeah, I never saw his acceptance letter and all, but I took his word for it that he got in."

We took his word for it too. If Chase didn't get accepted to Harvard, why would he tell us he did? We're his closest friends.

"That must've made you upset."

"Obviously! Like who lies to their girlfriend about something so important!"

"I see. Like the way you lied about your SAT scores."

Cassidy narrowed her eyes. "Hey, I know that I'm not exactly in the position to be judging people, but...but..."

"But what, Cassidy?"

"Whatever."

Dad smiled.

"Anyways," Cassidy huffed, "I confronted Chase about it the day after I found out. I caught up to him before he left school, and all I wanted was for him to explain what was going on, so he started to ramble about how he 'could barely sleep at night' or 'felt guilty about keeping this from Jonas and Johanna,'" she said mockingly. "It was pathetic really, but that wasn't even the worst part. He threatened to break up with me."

"Were you expecting that from him?"

"Never! I thought Chase and I were good, but I guess I was wrong. He said that if I didn't go and confess about the SAT scores, we were over. He gave me back the steroids he had left, said he already talked to his parents about the steroids and would tell the football coach soon too. He said I had until the next day, prom, to do it. If not, he would do it himself."

"Did you?"

"What do you think? Anyway, that's where Ethan came in. Ethan has had a crush on me since junior year, at least. I always rejected him and said I had a boyfriend, but with Chase being so on edge lately, I decided to ask Ethan for a favor."

"What did he do?"

"Well, Ethan had been dating Sophie for two weeks maybe? He already wanted to break up with her, which I found to be very understandable. I flirted with him a little, and he was ready to do my bidding. I told him I needed him to get access to Miss Robinson's medicine cabinet, and he said he would try to get it from Sophie."

A/N: Hey, peeps! Hope you guys are enjoying these confession chapters. Sorry I'm a couple days late. I started classes this week, so I've been a little busy and slightly lazy...But I'm back, and I will get this book finished! I can't believe we're almost there!!! Do you think Chase did the right thing by threatening Cassidy, or should he have told on her himself?
