Chapter 12

Christmas morning
"Veronica please get the camera, this is technically our last Christmas, before Jonahs goes to college!" My mom sits in front of the Christmas tree. Unfortunately she had to work in a little, but we woke up extra early for the best holiday ever.

"College?" Jonahs taps his chin making my mom upset.

"I do not work hard for you to be lazy." My mom rolls her eyes.

I jump up to grab the camera, I was excited for my family to open up thier gifts. I saved a little money to buy my closest friends gifts.

"Smile guys!" I take a quick picture. I look at the picture to find my brother making the ugliest face.

"Grow up!" I laugh.

"Mami, please open your gifts first." I jump up and down, as I grab her gift from me from under the tree. I tried to be creative with my wrapping, because I was just that extra.

Jonahs grabbed his gift for her from under the tree, and it made me laugh. His wrapping looked like he literally hired a six year old to do it.

"Bring them to mami!" My mom excitedly waves her arms in the air.

She grabs Jonahs gift and laughs, "At least you tried Jo." She shaked it and tried to guess what it was. "Mmh I guess some type of jewelry." She says opening it.

"Not jewelry." Jonahs nervously laughs.

"Wow! A membership to the gym. Are you trying to tell me something?" She jokes.

"No, it came with my package deal, you know money doesn't buy the best things." He tries to joke. What a messed up gift, I hope he gets his life together and finds a girl that can deal with that.

"Veronica please do not disappoint." I get my big gift and hand it to her.

"Wow it's big, a massage chair from when I get home from my new gym!" She laughs.

She opens it and finds a medium sized gift and pulls it out. I wrapped the box and wrote, "My love for you is like the box, big, but my gift isn't." She sighs, I nervously watch her unwrap that box and open it to find a smaller box.

"Wow Veronica way to waste card board boxes." My brother points out. I roll my eyes and smack his head.

She opens the box and finds 3 small boxes. The first box is a simple silver necklace with a mother and a daughter hugging one another. She smiled at the gift and opened the next one. The next one was a 5 page thanks I wrote to her, which made Jonahs scoff. The last gift was 3 free spa days. She thanked me and pulled out a gift from under the tree.

"And this is for me, from me!" She opened the gift and inside was a whole bunch of choclates, bras and underwears.

"From when I come home from the gym, I eat my chocolates!"

"Ma it doesn't work like that." Jonahs laughed.

"Wow glad to see, I am not the only extra one here." I pretended to take off sweat from my forehead.

"Now guys open your gifts from me." My mom handed each of us three gifts. I let Jonahs fo first, as he recieved some new games to his play station, a whole new outfit, and undergarments.

I had 3 smaller boxes. The first one was one pair of grandma underwear. "Thank you! I do need them for my Carrie days!" I tried my best to appreciate. The second gift was.... an avocado. "I love a freah avocado." I tried to hide my sadness, in my lack of effort given.

"I know you do!" My mom smiled, as if she recieved a nobel price.

"The last gift is from me, your dad, and your brother." I smiled confused, my dad?
