-Lexi's POV-
*Two weeks later*I lay on my bed, tossing a tennis ball in the air and then catching it repeatedly. It's 8:00 pm and I've been home for about five days and I realized how boring it is here. If my leg wasn't broken and my sister wasn't in the hospital I'd probably be getting ready to go out.
But instead I'm laying here because my parents are at the hospital and there's nothing to do. I'm not in the mood to watch anything so that basically leaves me nothing to do in the house. I'm not cleared to drive yet and it's already too much of a struggle to get down the stairs alone so that rules out anything outside of the house. I didn't want to just sit at the hospital either because I was there earlier. I almost feel like a prisoner.
I open my bedside table drawer to see if maybe my DS was still in there when I find a piece of paper. I unfold it to see Ian's number written on it. I completely forgot I put it in there. To be honest I kind of forgot about Ian. He hadn't visited since two weeks ago. Not that I expected him too. He's probably been super busy with work and it's not like we are really friends.
I stare at the number and debate whether or not I should text him. I mean I have nothing better to do. But instead of texting the number I dial it and call him. After about four rings I figure he's working or just busy. Right before I end the call the ringing stops and he picks up the phone.
"Hello?" He asks. His voice raspy, as if he was just sleeping. Now I feel bad, I should've left him alone. I could still end the call...
"Um, hey Ian, it's Lexi. Lexi from the hospital..." I say, now feeling a little awkward for calling. I hear him clear his throat and I smile. I don't remember the last time I talked to a guy on the phone.
"Oh! Hey Lexi, how are you? Did something happen?" He asks, now sounding a little more alert and concerned.
"No! I'm fine, we're fine. I'm home now, I was just bored and I found your number. Sorry, is this weird? This is weird isn't?" I say, biting my bottom lip. He probably thinks I'm being so weird. I shouldn't have called.
"Ha, no you're fine. Sorry I didn't visit again. I'm glad to hear you both are doing okay though. It's been super busy lately at work."
"That's okay, I didn't expect you to. I just didn't realize how boring it is at home. My parents are at the hospital probably till midnight again. I miss the road trip and not having this ugly bulky cast on my leg." I say and I hear him laugh on the other end. Wow, I probably sound super desperate right now.
"Well if you want, we could do something? I was just taking a nap before but now I'm up. I mean, only if you want." He says and I can feel the awkwardness again. I'm about to say yes but then I realize I probably look like a hot mess right now. Maybe I should say another time?
"Really? I haven't hung out with anyone in a while. I can't do much with this cast though, it still hurts a lot." I say looking down at the cast.
"Hmmm. Well I'm starving right now sooo, do you like Chinese food?" He says and I can't help but laugh.
"Of course, who doesn't?"
"Great, well how about I grab some and you text me your location, and I'll bring it over and we can watch a movie or something?"
"That sounds great. Thanks for curing my boredom." I say now feeling excited but a little nervous.
"Nothing says fun like Chinese food and making new friends. I'll see you later then I guess!" He says and then hangs up.
