Chapter Nineteen

"Finn, I've told you multiple times that you can't come with today, I'm still trying to connect with Laney and I can't do that if you are hanging off of me the whole time because I wouldn't be paying attention to her because I would be paying attention to you. I'm sorry, but you are not coming with today." I say firmly as I slip a thin t-shirt over my head that matches my swimsuit.

I had promised Laney that i would take her to the local pool today and that isn't changing now that I have mated with Finn. My relationship with Laney is still rocky to say the least and I want to take every moment that I can to try and repair it before there is another babu in the household that I am going to have to connect with. I dont want her to feel as if she is going to be second to the baby when it comes along, since she already has doubts about her place in the house.

"I promise I'll let the two of you hang out alone. I just want to bs there to be able to protect you. I don't know what will happen and it is making me extremely nervous. I just want to keep you safe." I sigh as i throw the sun screen into my bag, even though I can't really get burnt since my healing abilities would kick in in mere minutes and have it healed.

"I know, Finn, we haven't spent any time away from eachother since we mated, but it can't be like this for the rest of our lives. I need to be able to leave and have peace knowing that you aren't at home bitting your nails because your not with me. We still need to have lives outside of eachother." Finn sighs as he wraps his arms around my waist and lays his head onto my shoulder.

"Next time can the three of us go together?" He says quietly into my ear. I smile because I know I've won and also because i would love to go swimming with him, his whole torso on display for me, water dripping down it......

"Of course, noe I've got to go. See you later tonight for dinner." Finn calls out his bye before laying down on the bed. I leave the room amd walk the short distance to where Laney is waiting for me in her room.

I knock on re door before opening it enough so that i can push my head through. Laney Lane is sitting on her bed playing with a few od the mermaid dolls that Daddy bought for her the other day that pushed her into asking me to going to the pool.

"Hey, you ready to go?" I ask softly. Laney looks up and smiles when she sees that its me in the doorway. She hips off of the bed and I push the door open more so that she can get out of the room. I grab her hand and swing them between the two of us as we walk down the hallway.

"Are you excited to go swimming today?" Laney asks as she skips next to me. I chuckle at her before nodding my head when she looks at me questioningly.

"I think we are going to have a lot of fun today." Laney decides as she runs ahead of me and jumps into the car Daddy is letting me use today. I get into the driver seat and smile back at where Laney is seated in her boaster seat.

"Lets get going." Laney squeals abd songs to all of her favorite songs on the radio. I'm laughing along with her as I keep my eyes on the road.

Something flashes out of the corner of my eye, and I'm able to let out a shout before a huge tuck launches itself out of the forest and right into the side of the car.

Pain is everywhere as i blink the black spots out of my eyes. I notice i am upside down, and the only thing keeping me in my seat is my seat belt. Voices slowly come into my range and I cant make them out since they seem to be in another language than english, and i don't habe enough willpower to try and decipher what language they are talking in and what they are saying. The Voices stop talking suddenly and I try to look around and ses what is happening.

"Grab them both." The first words spoken in English, but they cause my heart to stop. I can already feel my many wounds healing, but i know i wouldnt be able to fight all of the men currently surrounding us.

Hands reach in and grab me. I go limp, pretending I'm still unconscious. I hear them pull out Laney because she begins screaming. My heart breaks hearing her cries and I know i would do anything to help her.

Once my body is fully lifted out of the overturned car I shoot into action. I snap around and punch thr mN holding me in the face causing him to drop me. It causes pain to shoot through my chest and I realize a little too late that my ribs, which must have broken, are not fully healed. I gasp as I try to get up, ignoring the black dots covering my visions.

I'm picked back up and thrown back down on the ground. I hear more bones crack inside of my chest and i let out a shrill cry. The man laughs before turning to another man, the guys who I assume is the leader. The talk and I realize they are speaking French, but I can't keep up with what they are saying. Finally the boss turns to me and snarls.

"Leave him, he is too much trouble, but keep the girl, she could be of use to us." With that he turns and walks back to another car that must have been following the one that rammed into us.

I try to lunge at the man, but the man that dropped me turned and kicked me harshly in the chest. I dropped down to the ground and coughed, watching as blood spurred all over the gravel.

I watched in desperation as Laney was thrown in the back of a dark van before the blackness took over me.
