Tropical Fruit Salad by rosaimee
"Hey girls! Isn't it hot in here? I'm melting."
"Damned plastic bags! Why don't people learn to use shopping bags? It's better for the planet."
"Because humans are a bunch of lazy, unconscious, selfish beings. Why can't they plant star fruit trees in their back yards anyway?"
"Too much work, I think... For them, of course... Parasites!"
"Ouch! Watch out you idiot! We should be labeled, 'Precious! Handle with care!'"
"Hey girls look at this kitchen! It's soooo elegant!"
"Yeah, at least the trampled journey is worth it."
"Oooooh! Granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances!"
"Look at the juicer! I so envy you filthy oranges!"
"Shhhh. Look at the rest of the fruits in the basket!"
"Hello señora piña. Are you from Lajas?"
"Yes, I am. Harvested two days ago."
"Ooooh. That's amazing! Much better than coming from the supermarket... I remember when I was a dazzling star fruit in the tree..."
"Oh no, here she comes again."
"... The summer breeze caressed my skin and the sun made me ripen. That was life!"
"Hey girls, what's that? A cook book?"
"I think she's going to do something special today."
"Oh, really? Mr. Watermelon can you see what's on that page?"
"Sure, my little star fruit friend. It reads: How to make a tropical fruit salad."

*Note: Lajas is a southern city in Puerto Rico, famous for having a variety of the sweetest pineapples in the world.
